ms Ryndam's Always Nice to Revisit

Sail Date: May 13, 2007

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

Ryndam, commissioned in 2002, has continually received significant upgrades/renovations and it vividly shows; she's most known for her spaciousness compared to other ships in the HAL fleet. This is my second visit to the Ryndam and fifth cruise with HAL. What particularly upset me was the lack of knowledge of our cruise specialist with . Perhaps thru no fault of hers she was not knowledgeable of luggage handling by HAL on the transfer from Seward to Anchorage and luggage handling in Vancouver.. This was further complicated by HAL's mismanagement of our luggage. Giving the benefit of the doubt to our cruise specialist/agent, it may have been HAL's vagueness re: luggage handling that made the waters murky.

Pros: Spaciousness (compared to other ships in fleet); great service; great food selection; activities abound.

Cons: Internet-ordered items not transmitted (from Seattle HQs) to ship annoying and presented inconvenience. Hal airport reps failed to inform that HAL-tagged luggage would be taken direcdtly from aircraft to ship whthat caused us 45 mins. of unecessary waiting in the airport and two missed shuttles.

Recommends Ryndam? Yes!

Cabin / Stateroom
Felt for a past "mariner" with HAL (fifth sailing) I'd be granted a better complimentary upgrade.

Ship Quality
Ryndam is one of the best ships in the HAL fleet.
