A very good cruise

Sail Date: September 02, 2007

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

The Ryndam is a great cruise ship. The size makes it very comfortable and one never feels over crowded. I do have to say that the average age of the guest must have been 65 - 70, so that may have led to some folk remaining in their cabins while on the ocean and a dead nightclub after 10pm.

Pros: Good service, decent food, very good amenities

Cons: Extra costs for everything. Spinning, yoga, etc. Alcohol excessively overpriced. Ship internal condition a concern.

Recommends Ryndam? Yes!

Ship Quality
Generally very good except for two major problems - multiple plumbing blockages - not cool when your stateroom toilet refuses to flush for two days!!! Elevators and escalators were also constantly out of service - they may require an overhaul. A big let down was the expresso machine breaking down on the fourth day of the cruise and not being repaired. PS don't buy a coffee card for this one.
Cabin / Stateroom
Adquate value for money.
Service and Staff
Very obliging and always attentive.
Food and Dining
A great selection of food which was unfortunately not complemented by a below par wine list in the main dining room. Pinnacle Grill has a very good wine list, however with the prices charged for wine, most would expect those on the cruise to have their own yachts.
Excursions on offer were supurb. a wide variety offered for all tastes and budgets.Entertainment was appropriate for the type of guests in attendance.
Ketchikan, Alaska

Don't Miss: Neats Bay bear watch by float plane. Amazing expierence.
Juneau, Alaska
Sport fishing with "Captian Mike" was great .Alaska Sheepskin Company is worth a visit.
Skagway, Alaska
Enough with the jewellrey shops.
Don't Miss: Yukon Paddle and Saddle.
