Review summary

The best part of the cruise was the lectures given by Brian of the Microsoft Digital Lab, for free. He introduced some of the newer features of Windows 8.1 to the class, such as fusing of pictures, creating collage of pictures, and rendering a panorama of pictures. The other parts of the cruise are routine and are commonly as expected. The cruise is given 4 stars because the fish at dinner was invariably overcooked.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The dessert was great but fish was always overcooked.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Microsoft Digital Lab was great, the highlight of my cruise.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows are routine, but probably great for a younger crowd.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff are friendly and attentative.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It is great for its size and age.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was roomy, larger than most interior rooms. It is kept clean and well-lit.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

1 out of 5
The port area looks untidy.

Key West, Florida

3 out of 5
Key West is dated. It looks tired and without vigor.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
It is a small place, nothing to see. The excursion to a private beach was great, though.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

3 out of 5
Don't expect to see anything great, just a routine place.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
The port has a large shopping area with lots of shops. You do have to bargain.

I have taken these classes and found them to be easy to follow and very helpful.  I hope that offer them on my next HAL cruise.
