Review summary

Enjoyable cruise and there are certainly plenty of options of things to do. It would have been nice to have more port stops (there were only 3 ports in 7 days). The staff was hard working and congenial. We found the food disappointing. Cabin was adequate, but we were awoken in the middle of the night nearly every night by noises from the crew areas. Although we called the front desk repeatedly to report it, there were no real apologies offered by the cruise line.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was generally very clean. Sometimes I observed that trash left in common areas was not picked up for hours. It's a shame that some lazy, inconsiderate passengers would actually leave their trash in places like elevators, but I was also disappointed to see that it stayed there for hours at times.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was small but functional and was kept very tidy by our great attendant, Acip. It was quiet during the day, but almost every night we were awoken in the middle of the night (1:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m., etc...) by loud noises coming from crew areas to the side and above. Lots of banging and scraping sounds. I kept calling the front desk to report it, and it would eventually stop, but it was really annoying that I had to do this nearly every night and it disrupted our sleep every night. For that reason, I do not recommend this cabin.

Ship tip

Lovely ship with lots of options of things to do. Our favorite dining experiences were the Salty Dog Pub and the International Cafe. In general, though, the quality of the food was mediocre. We brought our own wine on the ship and were annoyed at the $15 corkage fee. I know this is not unusual in the cruise world, but this nickle and diming done by the cruise lines is really a big turn off.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the Chileno Bay snorkeling excursion. The crew on the ship was excellent. Very cheerful, helpful and attentive to safety issues.

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
We did a tour through a third party which was OK. We did not find Mazatlán that compelling, and the beach area we went to on Stone Island was run down and overly touristy, with competing loud disco music pumping from multiple directions......not a relaxing experience at all.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the hidden mexico excursion, and this was our favorite. Our tour guide was outstanding and very engaged, telling us several fables throughout the day. We did so much on this excursion. We visited botanical gardens, petroglyphs, a bakery, a wood working shop, a cemetery, small village and enjoyed a great meal actually sitting in a river bed. We really had an appreciation for these more authentic areas vs. the excessively touristy stops that most excursions make.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We did self disembarkation and this ran very smoothly. We were off the ship in about 15 minutes.

Well you knew how many ports there were going to be and always research your cabin position when booking
