Sailed on the California Coastal Cruise in a minisuite.

We fly into Long Beach and grabbed an uber which was quick and cheap to get to the port

Boarded at Long beach , chaotic outside the pier but once inside boarding was reasonably quick and luggage was delivered quickly .
Cabin was clean , dated with signs of heavy wear and tear , bed was awful , we both had backavhe throughout the cruise .
Aircon worked fine in the day but cabin was extremely hot at night, unlike the rest of the ship which was chilly
!
The food has deteriorated rapidly from our last cruise a few years ago, the main dining room choices were limited and boring, the only decent meal was on formal night. The service in the crown grill was appalling, rude waiter, restaurant manager spoke to us in a stuoid sing songy voice , its a steak house however the steak is served grilled, no sauce was available which made it bland and dry. The ambience was like a bus station with people rushing around and not at all relaxing or romantic. The buffet restaurant again, very limited choice and mainly fast or fried food, vegetables in any restaurant were like gold dust , The Salty Dog which is billed as a Gastro pub served weird “tapas” style p,ates of burger, mac &cheese etc, not really suited to dinner
The saving grace was Share restaurant which was lovely, great food, good service, lovely ambience.

There were 2 formal nights on the cruise, we were in the minority who actually made an effort, the dress code isn’t enforced in t(e main dining rooms it was a really odd to see some people dressed up ans others in jeans and t shirts , the overall standard of dress was scruffy so tbey may as well scrap the formal night so we can cut diwn on the packing !

Tours: We soon learned that its only the British who bother to queue ! There was a lot of pushing and general rudeness
We took the tour ro Alcatraz which was fun and interesting, it is quite a steep walk upto the prison and there were lota if people complaining about it.San Francisco was a cool city

Monteray and Carmel 17 mile drive , beautiful places particularly Carmel where we would have liked to spend longer instead of the 35 minute stop at the golf club which was pointless.

San Diego we took the duck boat tour which was a waste of money, the bus/boat engine noise is so loud that it was impossible to hear to the guide , the bits we did catch were mainly about Tuna , it was boring and uncomfortable.

Front desk were difficult to deal with, we were owed credits which didnt appear on our statement , they were evasive and moat unhelpful and really turned us off ever using Princess again we felt they were trying to continually rip us off !

The plus points were the amazing wildlife we saw, Sea Lions, Seals, Sea Otters ( very cute) , Dolphins, Whales, Pelicans
