Great Cruise

Sail Date: January 02, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

We cruised the Ruby Princess to the Eastern Caribbean. Very clean ship and well-organized staff. Our room was clean and well-appointed with plenty of closet space and very comfortable bed. Food was outstanding...in all venues, from the formal dining room, buffet, Crowne Grill, and poolside cafes. Great activities, especially the casino. Entertainment was very good. It didn't hurt that the weather was unbelievably good. Overall, we had a great time and would not hesitate returning to the Ruby Princess.

Pros: Food was superb; accomodations were clean and roomy (balcony); fun activities

Cons: minor point...our waiter was not particularly friendly

Recommends Ruby Princess? Yes!

Service and Staff
Ship Quality
For a very large ship it was well laid out and fun to explore
Food and Dining
Very good food in all restaurants
Cabin / Stateroom
Roomy, clean, with ample closet space
Entertainment
We went every night. Especially liked the comedians
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
We love St. Maarten (had our honeymoon there 25 years ago). We took a combination bus tour/cruise from Phillipsburg to Marigot. A very nice way to see the island. Very friendly staff.
Don't Miss: Eat lunch at La Vien Rose in Marigot.
Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)
Very clean. Crystal clear water. We weren't inundated by jewelry shops like we were on some of the other islands.
Grand Turk Island
Grand Turk was a real disappointment. It didn't help that another cruise ship was also there, resulting in thousands of people on a relatively small beach. We took a taxi into the historic town, which isn't worth the $5.00 to get there. Better to stay on the ship.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Wandering around town is fun. Lots to see.
Don't Miss: Mega-yacht watching. Walk along the harbor and see the giant pleasure yachts.
