We sailed on the February 15 Panama Canal cruise, roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale. We found the experience to be 5 STAR all the way.The crew was warm and welcoming, with a smile and hello at all times, right down to the engineering crew, who passed us occasionally, also with a smile a hello. The cabins were spacious, with plenty of closet space and hangers. There was beautiful detail thoughout the ship, including art of all kind and gorgeous live flower arrangements. The service was superb, from the cabin steward, to the dining steward and everyone throughout the ship. The food was nothing sort of SPECTACULAR! The variety was impressive and ever changing. The flavor and presentation were exquisite (extending to the detailed wax carvings, fruit, vegetable and ice sculptures). The three-part Panama Canal series was very educational and the informational talks were thorough and well presented. The evening entertainment was wonderful and diverse. We specifically had to admire the ship's cast, and Devlin the Magician, with his assistant who exemplified "the show must go on" spirit. We experienced unusually strong seas (up to 27') and near gale force winds, but through it all, the performers carried on almost seamlessly. Truly a remarkable accomplishment!!! We will definitely cruise with Holland America again - a marvelous and memorable experience for one and all (even with a group of 7, ranging in age from 15 to 81).
