A Cruise to Norway by WarrenK3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Beautiful ship - very impressed with the layout. The retreat area in the aft seems a waste - especially the \"pool\" portion. How about an area for adults only to swim.

Not a great ship by DaveY

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Old ship. Floors un-even. A/C in room didn't work. Elevators get stuck. Entertainment was quite poor. No towels in room on arrival. Had to wait several hours. Finally took a shower i a freezing room with the one small towel in room. Food and serevce were very good.

NOT A GREAT CRUISE. VERY DISAPPOINTING by StanleyS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

THE SHIP WAS FINE BUT TOO SMALL.DID NOT HANDLE ROUGH SEAS TOO WELL. HOLLAND AMERICA, IN MY OPINION WAS THE CLASSIC STANDARD FOR CRUISING AND AS SUCH COMMANDED A PREMIUM PRICE OVER OTHER LINE. THEY CUT DOWN ON SERVICES. POOR FOOD SELECTION IN THE DINING ROOM. CARNIVAL CRUISES DOES AN EQUAL IF BETTER JOB NOW.

A "Meh" Cruise by JessS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Transatlantic

The ship layout was odd and sometimes confusing. You could not access certain areas of the ship easily. Often had to go up or down a floor just to get past blocked area, then would have to return up or down another flight of steps to reach your intended destination.

Great cruise and great ports by DarleneR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Nice clean ship, however since last year when we cruised to Alaska, the air conditioner in our room this year was not as efficient. Also, we didn't have hot shower water all the time. It took two days to get a blinking light fixed in our cabin. The wine stewart wasn't as friendly as last year. Other than that it was a good cruise.

Panama Canal - a great cruise by TerryM4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The ship was very pretty, a good size - not too small, not too big, easy to get around. The food was wonderful, selection unbelieveable! The room was very nice, looked clean, but I now don't think the crew wipes down the surfaces with alcohol or replaces the pillows with new ones - or at least laundered ones. We got the worst colds we've ever had, and Im convinced we got the bugs on the ship. Next cruise I will bring lysol! I have never seen my hisband so sick in the 35 years we've been married! Nice ship's doctor.

it was a very good cruise by HankS

Sail date: /
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: South America

one of the reasons for my taking the cruise was that i had encountered the ship on the seas and in the ports on a few previous cruises. It had always impressed me so thought I should experience it "real time". It's a great ship and obviously has been maintained very well.

Fabulous time..will definitely do again! by KimS9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This ship was absolutely wonderful. The crew were amazing - absolute hospitality the whole time (how did they all remember our names and know our favorite drinks after just one day??).. and the decor was grand. The food was decent esp in the Pinnacle Grille and Canaletta's. We loved the afternoon entertainment.. and the surprises awaiting when we came back every evening to our room!

Beautiful Ship and Great Staff by JeffN4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Beautiful "classic" style ship with large well maintained staterooms, great cabin and dining stewards. The itinerary was good but a longer stay in Ketchikan would have been better as we left there early to race to Victoria and were then only there from 6pm to Midnight. Overall a very good experience and we are likely to choose Holland America for our next cruise.

Alaska cruise by OmaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Smaller ship, catering to the elderly, although I'm not old, I appreciated the care given to them. Nice library on the ship, was used by a lot of people. I wish there was no smoking in the casino, I couldn't stay in there fore more than 3 or 4 minutes. Had a wonderful time, and would sail with them again.

I am impressed with the cleaniness and good service on the ship. The food is above my expectation. The shows are of high quality. There are things to be done on board that I wish I had more time to do.

absolutely fantastic cruise by CindyD7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Great ship - clean and updated. Friendliest staff I have EVER encountered. Beautiful stateroom. Ports of call provided LOTS of great adventures to choose from (this was an Alaska cruise - so Juneau, Sitka, Ketchican, Victoria BC - and we took advantage of dog sledding, glacier viewing by helicopter and floatplane, zipline, etc) The Spa and exercise facilities gave us the opportunity to work off extra calories or get that much needed massage. I told everyone before I left that this would be a once in a lifetime experience, but I was incorrect - I will CLEARLY cruise with this cruiseline again!!!

A wonderful experience by ChrisB6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall, we had a wonderful 7-day cruise with our Lanai room being the most enjoyable with a great view. There were 18 people in our group and most everyone felt this same way. The ship was kept spotless clean and the buffett areas very clean with minimal contamination potential because the food was served by the staff rather than passengers helping themselves.
