Review summary

Good trip. I would travel on the Rotterdam again. Several happy hour specials made drink prices reasonable. It is an older crowd on Holland America but it does make for a more relaxed environment. There were still some younger couples and a few children on our cruise. No problems with loud drunks. The kitchen line where they serve you what you want is way better than people trashing the buffet like I have seen on some cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We never ate in the main dining room by request of my mother. (She is recovering from a stoke and likes to avoid some social situations). The food was good in the Lido Market. Many options to choose from and food is served in a kitchen line style as opposed from a buffet. Good burgers, dogs, and taco bar by the pool and pizza on the back deck.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools and fitness center were good. Nice walking track around deck 3

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedians were decent. Other nights were basically the house band and "Broadway" type singers.

Service and Staff

Great service on a smaller ship

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is well designed for a smaller ship. Kept very clean and maintained for an older ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Plenty of room for the 2 of us. Same size as most rooms on cruise ships

Ship tip

I would definetly sail on this ship again

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

Great town to visit. Have been there on a few occasions.

Key West, Florida

4 out of 5
Nice town. Mainly a tourist town with many bars and little tourist shops.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

4 out of 5
Nice port. It was all built by the cruise industry with shops, bars, A beach, and water activities for a fee. You must leave the port area if you want to see the real island.

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

2 out of 5
Commercial port with a small building with music, drinks, and local vendors. Nothing to see other than 1 building that takes 30 minutes to check out. An excursion is the only option or just hang out on the ship.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
The nicest cruise industry built port of our trip. Many shops, street performers, bars, a large pool, and a sandy area with loungers but I don't believe it had water access.
