Review summary

This Holland America cruise was not nearly as good as other HAL cruises I took in the past. The information desk staff were not ar all helpful and actually they were borderline rude.

Janfran echoes our experience on the Voyage of the Vikings. There was so little going on aboard ship that you needed to arrive an hour early for the few activities if you wanted a seat. Trivia was created by corporate so those who cruised all the time already had seen the trivia and knew the answers. On past cruises, the trivia reflected the itinerary, but not anymore. The best description of the onboard activities is soulless and uninspired. The guest entertainers were mostly U.K. d-listers. The dancers were good. Only 1 out 6 activities were staffed and not trying to sell you something. When the entertainment staff was hosting an event they showed up less than 5 minutes before it was due to start and were the first out the door. No interaction with guests. The cruise director would only hear good comments, anything critical was ignored. You were given "Share your Thoughts" cards, but if you took the time to fill one out, you were challenged to convince you that you were wrong.

It looks like you didn't even enjoy many of the ports either.  Dd you take any excursions at the ports that you weren't thrilled with?
