Review summary

I expected more from my RCCL cruise. I have been a Diamond Plus member for quite a number of cruises. This was my least pleasant cruise on RCCL. I hope this “new system” is not an indication of what future cruises will be like. I have come to know what to expect from Royal. This was not it.

Embarkation

Embarkation was fast and smooth. They had plenty of staff available to see that we were routed in the right direction. There was a little snag at security, but it was quickly resolved.

Main dining room: RCCL has instituted some type of new system. Our waiter explained this to us on the first night. It resulted in very little waiter support. Refills of water, iced tea, etc., were nonexistent. At breakfast, after taking our orders, the waiters disappeared. It took a great deal of effort to get them back and reorder. Breakfast took an hour and forty-five minutes. Specialty restaurants: We ate at Giovanni’s Table. We found exactly the same situation. The server took our order, brought our meal, and then ignored any subsequent needs.

The room steward was perfect. The waiters where we were reassigned saved the day in the dining room. The bartenders were very friendly and made great drinks.
