My wife and another couple (early 50's) cruised the week of February 9, 2003. Embarkation was a snap. Lots of people but plenty of staff to facilitate the crowds. The ship was beautiful. We were amazed at the continuous carpet cleaning and maintanence that went on. We were pleased with the size of our staterooms. Plenty of storage and room under the beds for empty suitcases. The beds were very comfortable. Our steward, Micheal, was very helpful and courteous. The food was good, about what you would expect for the preparation of 2,000 plates. Our waiter and assistant waiter were excellent. Very proficient and both spoke English fluently. Windjammer was better than I anticipated. I tended to eat less in the dining room, though. Casino was larger than I expected and more generous on odds than I anticipated. The entertainment was fablous. Headliner night on Wednesday featured the original Drifters, and was quite a treat for us 50- year-olds. The other nights were very good also. The ship orchestra was as good as I have heard. We chose to do our own thing in Key West, but took the snorkel trip to Stingray Alley in Belize. It was great! The 2-hour shopping trip to San Pedro was very interesting--looked like Cozumel 20-30 years ago--sand streets--very friendly natives. On Cozumel, we rented a car and toured the back side of the island. Saw lots of deserted beaches and breath taking views. There were a lot of quaint bar and grills scatterd along, also. The shopping areas in Key West and Cozumel were very crowded. We lucked out with beautiful sunny, warm days on all of our at sea days. Disembarkation was chaos with 2,000 people getting off of the ship at once. Just don't be in a hurry and you'll be on the road by 10:30am. We definitely will sail RCI again!
