Although there were a few negatives, we enjoyed our cruise on the Regal Princess very much. It is a beautiful ship. Sadly, the cruise industry has been cutting back on all areas and it shows. I’ve been on over 20+ cruises and there have been some major changes and not for the better. Hope someday soon things may return to half of what they used to be.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Frustrating. Didn’t help to pre-register. The “Blue” passengers boarded ship before us.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was good. Although the menu selection was limited. Sabatini’s was wonderful. Nice variety of menu items to select from and the food was so delicious. Alfredo’s was ok but not worth the up charge. The buffet was good and plenty of seating.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Didn’t do much. Just eat, drink and relax.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Theater shows were average, at best. Cruise lines are cutting back on entertainment and it shows.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service and staff were excellent. Our waiter John or Jon at Sabatini’s was fantastic. He made the whole dining experience fun and enjoyable. He explained the menu items and made suggestions. Our cabin steward Lance was another gem. He was so nice, friendly and accommodating. He met all our requests with a smile and prompt action. He also kept our cabin nice and tidy at all times. These two inland others made our cruise memorable.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship design was good and clean. The adult only area felt a bit cramp. The Vista Lounge is a nice venue but under utilized. The public restrooms need to be better maintained. There were broken or non working water spigots. Some soap dispensers were also not working. There was also a men’s restroom that had a fan positioned at the entrance throughout the cruise with some strange noises coming out of there as well.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin and balcony were comfortable. The size was a bit small for a balcony cabin as compared to other cruise lines. The bathroom also felt cramped and small for a balcony cabin. I’m of average size and had a little difficulty dressing in the bathroom. Thanks to our wonderful cabin steward Lance the cabin was always clean.
Ship tip
Just because one pre-registers online and receives “Green” status does not mean one will have a speedy embarkation.
Too many facial/makeup stores in one port. If I’m not mistaken, there were four locations at this port. These stores also had very aggressive sales associates.
Cutting back sounds right. My mom went on a Caribbean cruise back in 2006 and was surprised to hear how much is different and charged now with the one I’m going on.
Thanks for the review. What time did you arrive for check in? Another reviewer said embarkation was smooth so must have been at a different time. What has gone downhill on cruises? I understand entertainment is hard to come by. Covid made a lot of entertainers change careers. Now with more ships than ever, quality entertainers are spread thin. Many lines now clean cabins only once a day but Princess still does it twice. Anything else?
