Pleasant Cruising

Sail Date: March 27, 2016

Reviewed: 6 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

This was our first Princess cruise and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked, checked in, reserved our excursions, received our paperwork and luggage tags all online with great ease. The process at dockside to embark was a little hectic and confusing compared to other cruiselines we have traveled but everything was accomplished and we boarded. The décor was very pleasant and soothing, conducive to relaxing. Our room was a smaller balcony but very nice, cabin steward was great in fulfilling our every wish. Activities were available around the clock but never felt forced to join in if we didn't wish and weren't a lot of loud activities in the common areas around pool. Shore excursions were nice, had beautiful weather for the beaches, kind of breezy couple of days but that's on Mother Nature. Anytime dining worked out well, only had to wait a little for two of the 7 nights. Loved the nightly entertainment, very well done and professional quality. Seating in theatre was laid out well, more spread out and not as uphill. Will definitely be taking this cruise line again.

Cabin / Stateroom
Randi our steward was excellent. Space around bed wasn't huge but who's in the cabin that much anyway, we had a balcony! Bathroom was nice, roomier than we have had, bigger shower. Closet was very well placed for easier access and plenty of hangers. Loved it!
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Embarkation could use some organization, be less confusing.

Children's Programs Don't know, didn't have children but kids looked happy and saw them with activities.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Tours are for a couple of hours so if you want to take time to do something else afterward, like get a taxi to another area, there is time. We went on a tour of both Dutch and French sides then to the beach but was not the famous "Airport Beach" where the planes come in.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
We had been to St Thomas before and toured island so we took a boat trip to St John for beach and snorkeling. Was excellent, guides on boat pointed out all the local history and homes of the famous. Snorkeling is right off beach and husband said it was great.
Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)
Reserve your beach equipment beforehand so they do not run out. Some people wanted the clamshells and they were all reserved. Some parts of beach are very calm but rocky, others were quite a bit of surf. I recommend the aquachair for floating in water, was great. There is a pool for the kids to the left of the dock area.

I thought the buffet eating arrangement (which we used for breakfast and lunch) was much better organized than we experienced on other ships. They had separate "alleys" for different eating. One lane for pastry, one lane for sandwiches, and one for carving and hot foods. Created less confusion.
