Loved, loved, loved almost everything. I thought the ship and it's crew were great. Very nice people that seemed to really like what they are doing. The ship was fun, the food was great ( except the deserts were kinda weird). Our waiter was really fun. Totally recommend

it's the best time ever....lots to do and the guest service is excellent even though they have to make some excuses because at times things aren't perfect, like the food.........but they make up for it by being so nice and welcoming..........I'm already booked on the Oasis of the Sea, and can't wait.......sail date is 1-9-10.......

We sailed on this beautiful... by Raenico

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We sailed on this beautiful ship back in 2009 on an Alaskan cruise. Everything was amazing! They catered to my nephew's finicky dinner requests and even remembered his favorite dishes! They were especially wonderful accommodating my husband's "handicap", as he was on a knee-walker at the time. The crew were amazing and we can't wait to cruise with RC again!

Wouldn't cruise on Royal Caribbean Again by AT36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

About a week before we left, we were informed that there was an air & water show in San Diego at the time our ship was to leave to pick us up in Ensenada. This show has been going on for years from what I've been told. So we would meet at the convention center in San Diego & be bused from there. Well...we were at the convention center for 5 hours! Instead of having groups leave as they had a bus full, everyone left at once. We were on bus 53. Our bus driver did not speak English & drove like a manic on the winding roads. Some people arrived in San Diego the day before & stayed at the pre-cruise hotel. The hotel forgot to put their luggage on the bus & those poor people didn't get their luggage for FIVE DAYS, until we arrived in Maui. From what I heard, the only thing Royal Carribean did was give them a t-shirt.

Beautiful ship! by Tricia1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I really enjoyed our first cruise. The Radiance staff is excellent. The cruise director, Simon, is charming. We LOVED our main dining room waiter, Abel. He was such a ham! We didn't care for Cozumel (go to Pancho's Backyard for lunch), but Key West (conch train tour), Grand Cayman (swam with stingrays), and Jamaica (4x4 safari adventure) were a blast. Be sure to sign up for a shore excursion in Grand Cayman so that you don't have to get a tender ticket. We didn't like how expensive drinks were, and we didn't think that the ship's singers were very talented. Nevertheless, we still drank and went to all of the shows! The ship is beautiful and by the end of it my husband and I had both agreed that we wanted to spend more days "at sea" on our next cruise!

Radiance deserves its name by JamesF57543142

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The cruise was amazing. Pretty much from the day we got back my wife and I have been wanting to go on another...but it's kinda hard to work and cruise at the same time. We cringe every time we see a Royal Caribbean commercial come on because we want to go back so badly. We enjoyed pretty much everything. The massive amounts of windows and observation areas were really nice to look out of. The ship wasn't as lit up at night as the Carnival ships so stargazing on the Helipad was a frequent must. The wait staff was probably the best I've ever had in my life. Add to that, the people we got to sit with during the dining period were really great. We still exchange e-mails with them. All of the excursions we went on were enjoyable and shopping in open air markets on St. Maartin was fun. The most enjoyable excursion by far though was the Dolphin Encounter in the Bahamas. It was very awesome and we were smiling for the rest of the day. It's a smaller ship than the newer Royal Caribbean ships and that was nice. We never really felt overcrowded and enjoyed the anonymity afforded by the cruise. We developed little routines like Sudoku time (sadly RC didn't provide Sudoku one day) and midnight brownies (I gained 7 pounds...oops). I wasn't really ever affected too terribly by the movement of the ship, but one night was pretty bad when we were traveling flat out on the first cruising day. I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and the cruise director was always good fun. The Radiance of the Seas made a believer out of me and I would definitely reccomend it to anyone wanting to go on a cruise. Our ship seemed nicer than any of the ones we encountered at ports (except for maybe the Disney ship which had a massive TV on the deck that we could watch from our cabin) and if not nicer then more homey. We got to see the Liberty of the Seas and I looked at some of the stuff online about it. It's a crazy ship that was MUCH larger than the Radiance. 4000+ compared to our 2300. So I was really pleased with the feel of the Radiance. It got to feel very comfortable, everyone was nice, the environment was nice and the size was just right.

Nice - Relaxing Time by JulieF6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship was ok - it was in need of repairs/attention. There was a broken window in the windjammer cafe, replacement did not match. Carpets and furniture were worn. Crew was not as friendly and helpful as my past Royal cruises. Many of them were new and the veteran ones seemed tired and in their on little world. Most of the bars were not fully stocked until Wednesday, you had to beg to get a "Coor's Light" even after mentioning it several times in different lounges and restaurants. Only one server "Agi from Poland" made it a point to make sure her area was fully stocked and bent over backwards to assist us. Room steward was very nice but was not properly trained for his position. Had to ask 3 times for and ashtray, extra pillow and towel. The dining room experience was nice and we had very good service. Overall our vacation was nice, I just wouldn't recommend this particular ship/crew.

The ship was clean and decorated nicely for Christmas. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The pools were nice. The entertainment was probably the best part of the cruise. The ships singers and dancers were excellent. The excursions offered were great. We enjoyed one at each port.

best vacation experience !! by Dv13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We recently went on an eastern caribbean cruise aboard the radiance of the seas.. it was our first cruise and we had high expectations.. we sure were not disappointed.. my husband and i enjoyed our vacation very much.. the cruise. made us forget about the stresses of our jobs :) Although some of the live entertainment wasn't up to par, most of it was enjoyable especially the adult games.. There is always something going on.. we especially enjoyed the Caribbean dance party under the stars..we had an ocean view room which was decent in size.. The queen size was surprisingly comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.. the food was great and service was excellent.. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on the cruise and it was worth every penny... 8-nights didn't seem long enough.. In the end, we were sad to leave away the friends we made.. we can't wait to go on another cruise and we'd definitely sail on the radiance of the seas again..

Alaska and Hawaii by ThomasL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

This was our second trip on the Radiance of the Seas...to Hawaii this time. We did Alaska with her last year. As you can guess, we liked it so much the first time, we came back for a second cruise. The ship is staffed with about the friendliest people around. The deck hands even greet you with a smile. Plenty to do or not to do on this ship. Talking with more experineced 'cruisers', we got the impression that they liked this ship...not too big and not too small. Great entertainment....yes...I saw 'Happy Feet' on the ship.

Dissapointing for me but not for my wife by MikeG8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska

This was my 35 wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska for my wife and I. We did the land portion first for 7 days, and then the Southward bound 7 day cruise. I had gone on at least 5 other cruises in my life, several of them 21+ days, but that was 32 years ago. My wife had never gone a cruise so she had nothing to compare this experience to other than the level of service and food she was accustomed to when we traveled. My wife tells me that I set my expectations to high; I judge the level of service by how we are treated at the Fairmount Hotels, or for that matter, one of the better hotels on the strip in Las Vegas like the Bellagio or Caesars. This was nothing like that, the accountants are running the hospitality aspects of the ship and it reflects poorly on the company. Here is just one very small, annoying process that has been put in place on board ship, you cannot run a tab. Every time you order a drink you must close out the tab. This is very annoying especially during dinner. The food at its best mediocre and you always felt rushed, this also applies to the two other premium restaurants alternatives on board. We were fortunate in that on our stateroom level we had access to a concierge, so we worked all our fixes through him. He was a god send since when you were forced to work with the rest of he crew they did not see to understand the concept of Accommodating the guests requests. The front desk would typically say no to requests that were a little off the norm without offering you any other alternatives or possibilities even with the proper handshake. My wife enjoyed herself but I strongly feel that I did not receive fair value for my money.

The "Radiance" is radiant by CharlesC1097287

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The "Radiance" is the largest ship that we have sailed on. She has enough room for everyone except during the early breakfast hours in the Windjammer. We really expected more since she is so large. Almost every morning we had to wait for a table. The wait staff kept their eyes open for those who were about to leave so the table could be cleaned quickly. The only other items that upset us was that the pre-scrambled eggs were always runny and there were very few, if any, steamed veggies on the lunch buffet. The lack of lines in the "food court" setup of the Windjammer contributed to the lack of tables. For almost every person at the steam tables, there was one person saving a table for eating. If the "old-fashioned" lines seemed long, at least they kept everyone in line and there was no "saving" of seats (usually for a party of two at a table for 4 or 6 - and they didn't want "strangers" sitting with them) The shows every evening were wonderful. The talent showed by the singers and dancers on the crew is nothing short of amazing!!! Imagine doing lifts and swinging from a cable while the floor beneath you is rocking back and forth. Even the "well-known" talent had to cope with the seas once in a while. We were pleased with our cabin and our tablemates for dinner. I don't know how the combinations are chosen, but they did a good job with us.
