Feelings from the King & Queen by ElaineA5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

We felt as though we were a King & Queen for 5 days. From the woderful staff that is from all different countries & walks of life they treat you like gold, and have such grace with everything they do for you. During those 5 days you are made to feel so special and you bond with all of the staff. Even the ship captain every time he spoke over the intercom he made everything so appealing and funny. We can say from the food to the room, this was the most relaxing and fun vacation we have ever had. the ship was magnificiant. We will be planning more trips with friends and family. It was like heaven.

Overall this was a great experience....would definately do it again. The service was fantastic. The meals onboard were fantastic...five stars. The night time activities were good, the shows were great. The daytime activities were severely lacking.....Bingo and name that tune....boring. The ports of call were fantastic.

Royal Caribbean has new fans ! by BrentH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This was our first time sailing with Royal Caribbean. Two prior cruises were with Cunard & Princess... Royal has them beat overall. Our Junior Suite was a very nice size, with a huge walk-in closet. I could have brought another 3 suitcases worth of clothes! Balcony was very wide but not very deep. Two small chairs & a small table; a lot of "standing" space that would have been nice to have a lounger in. The ship is very well laid out, and very clearly marked. Everywhere you turned there were signs directing you. Starboard side was smoking ( we smoke ) with plenty of ashtrays on every deck. My Time Dining still has a few bugs. We arrived, told the host 2 people, and were promptly sat on the end 2 seats of a large, all one family table of 10. Awkward ! When I went back to the host he explained there were only 2 tables for 2... and both were reserved. I think a sucessful MTD program needs to address the fact that most people want to eat by themselves, not at a huge table with strangers. Food was beautifully presented, taste was good, service was great. The 2 speciality restaurants were excellent... well worth the up-charge. We both preferred Portofino over Chops, But thats not to say Chops was not outstanding. Entertainment was so-so. The pictures of the theatre make it look huge & gorgeous.. it is very well arranged. Cunard by far has the best entertainment... very slick Las Vegas Costumes/lighting/sound system... this was more on par with Princess. The whole ship was spotless... smiling crew... GORGEOUS art everwhere. The one thing that made me scratch my head was with $6 million worth of art scattered throughout the ship... why did they have plastic orchids hanging on the walls of the Centrum & 75% plastic greenary surround the solarium pool ? Spa was great, private non-coed sauna & steam rooms in the locker rooms... tile showers. Tons of fresh towels everwhere. On Princess you had to get towels from your stateroom attendant & then keep track of them as they were hard to get replaced. Not here... towels everywhere ! On board coffee was good... drink prices were good. I wish the bars had a better non-alchoholic selection... flavored waters, juice-tea type blends... stuff like that. Overall we loved the entire cruise... definately looking to book with Royal again !

Less than expected by PatM79874032

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Shop area is quite a bit smaller than any other ship we have been on. The last night there was a charge to our minibar and we never use this service, (corrected before we debarked). Bed not turned down the first night. No mints on the pillows. No dedicated wine steward in the main dining room, asst waiter took care of it. This cruise line does not enforce their own policy on main dining attire. We have sailed with at least 4 other lines and Cunard was the only one to honor their dress code policy. Overall, there was a feeling that they were cutting a lot of corners. Still a good cruise but not up to the standards of previous ones. This may be pervasive of the entire industry now though and if so, we will wait until service gets back to what it was.

Radiance of the Sea by SandraT36953228

Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This is a beautiful shop! At the end of the first full day we couldn't believe that we still had a week to go because we were so relaxed! We met wonderful people, the food was terrific. The weather was warm and beautiful. The ports were interesting. The staff was, without exception, friendly and happy to serve. Our cabin steward left a surprise every evening in our stateroom. It was fun to meet staff members from all over the world. It was truly an international experience. We'd go again in a heartbeat.

Great Cruise and Great Value by BerndK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This was our third cruise this year, and the only disappointment was that it was a few days too short. The crew was extremely courteous, helpful, and efficient. I fell in the cafeteria one day while getting my food. Apparently a small bit of food dropped by someone got under my heal and down I went. I was not hurt, got up and went about my business. Within 5 minutes a staff member approached my table and asked me if I needed any medical attention, etc. Apparently someone on the cafeteria staff had seen this, watched to see where I was sitting, and then reported it. Just an example of a crew that takes pride in what they are doing. I have previously written about a bad experience we had with NCL, so felt obligated to write this, as this cruise was a great experience from the time we checked onboard until we left the ship.

A bgrteat cruise on a beautiful ship by DougW5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Everything was great about this cruise - the ship itself, the room, (most of) the staff, the entertainment. The captain was particularly fun - good personality and accessible. The destination (Cabo San Lucas) was as advertised, but the days just at sea were the best. Highly recommended.

B-day at sea by JusMe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Friends and I booked this as a quick trip so I could have my B-day at sea.  We started with a night in San Diago.  took the train down from L.A.  The Holiday Inn on the Bay picked us up at the train station for free.  For dinner we took the Trolly into Old Town and ate at Rocking Baja,  Great drinks in glasses big enough to be a bird bath. The Hotel dropped us at the ship for free the next morning.

Check in at the ship went smooth and quick.  The ship was clean and had a good lay out.   Nice size ship, not to big.  MDR service was great and they sang Happy B-day to me.  Service on the ship was great,  not sure if it was just the ship or because we were buying wine at $100.00 a bottle a couple times a day.  we did get comped Chocolate covered Strawberries when in the Champagne Barr and a Cheese and fruit tray in the Schooner bar.

this was the first time I splurged for a balcony cabin.   I loved it,  slept with the door open a bit to hear the waves,  ordered breakfast on the balcony most mornings.  It did spoil me to wanting a balcony after trying it.

Our first cruise was awesome by VincentI

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Really cool ship! It had great decor and had many more amenities than we had dreamed. The pools were great and the wood work and finishing touches were outstanding. We were not able to do all the activities that were available by a long shot. The captain and crew were just great too.

I sailed on the Radiance of the Seas by BettyT72818951

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

We had a group of seventeen people on our cruise. It was my first cruise and I was surprised at the size of the rooms. I roomed with my sister-in-law and we had plenty of room to move around. We had a balcony , which is the best way to go as for me. Loved watching the ship come into and away from docks. The ship was beautiful and very clean. Food was fantastic and service great. It was so fun going to our room at night and finding the cute animals made from towels. I would recommend this cruise line to any of my friends.

We had a wonderful cruise! by JenW1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This was our 4th cruise. We have sailed with Carnival, NCL, and Royal Caribbean once before. The cruises were all 7 nights long. This cruise was shorter, only 5 nights. We went on this vacation to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Our cruise was wonderful in every way. We stayed in a junior suite, which was quiet, clean, and spacious with a nice balcony. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and responsive to our needs, and the ship was beautiful. We worked out at the gym, got massages, shopped, played in a poker tournament, went to the pool, saw a few shows, and even miniature golfed. We ate in the dining room every night. We really did everything on the ship and it was all fantastic. I recommend Royal Caribbean to everyone! We are planning on another cruise next summer with the family and Royal Caribbean is my first choice. Some people have posted problems with boarding and disembarking. We boarded quickly and easily. The trick is to board as early as possible as there are no lines! Disembarking was fast and went smoothly. I literally have nothing to complain about regarding our cruise. Everything was PERFECT!!!

I'm on a BOAT! by MikeC8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This was my first cruise, and while it likely won't be my last... I don't have the bug to do one of these every year for the rest of my life like some people. I think it really boils down to a person's personality... and really at no fault of Royal Caribbean, the very nice boat they operate, or their staff, I just prefer dry ground for vacationing. That said, our room was nice, and unexpectedly largely sized (aside from the bathroom which was about what I expected). The staff was courteous for the most part, and in a few stand out cases exceptional. The food was above par at the assigned restaurant and at the specialty restaurant (though our service in the specialty Italian restaurant was only average). The food at the various nook cafes was pretty good as well. The buffet (the Windjammer) was pretty mediocre in general, offering at least one item to eat at each meal that was good, but with a lot of stuff that was just not that good (quality or presentation-wise). I found that eating in the assigned restaurant was consistent and much higher quality...too bad we were stuck with this couple that were super annoying at our assigned table during most meals. :( We never once went swimming, which was our own fault, though we did put our feet in the hot tub in the indoor (Solarium) pool. The pools were nice in general... the bars near them served weak drinks I thought, though that might have been a coincidence for us... only the drinks in the casino were the opposite, so I am guessing not. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful... our two waiters in the main dining area were at times difficult to understand (our main waiter read the specials for each meal very rapidly and with no inflexion), but were attentive, and overall did an excellent job. The only low marks I would give any of the staff areas is in the entertainment dept... specifically the comedians... we saw two, and one had a skit that must not have been updated in 10 years (since he likely retired from Vegas), and the other was just not that funny... when stuck on a boat with only one big event each night like this, it should be impressive, or at least mildly entertaining... it would have been better to have had a mediocre magician, than mediocre comedians that are self indulgent (the one) and barely funny (the other). So, yeah, I am really focusing on what did not floor me... to be fair, the boat itself is very nice, the room are great... the ports of call where very fun (Ensenada, where we did a wine tour I would highly recommend, and Cabo San Lucas, that again we enjoyed). They do NOT let you bring on ANY alcohol, so don't try... I had read otherwise... they take it and give it back to you on the last day. Just save yourself the hassle, and plan to buy drinks on the boat (in the casino where they make 'em stiff).
