First R/C Cruise by RalphB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

One annoying aspect: We were required to dress up for the lobster dinner. When we got there we were told diners were arriving late so we would not be able to eat until a half hour after our reservation. The reason for this is other diners went to a party we were not invited to. If we eat late it will put us into the Aurora Theater too late to get seats for the very excellent show that nite. I complained about all this and did get expressed through dinner in time to get into the theater for good seats. But I do not like to complain. Suggestion: either drop the dressup/party or invite all cruisers.

Yuck, Radiance of the Seas by GaryH8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Between the poor condition fo the ship, the lack of luxury service and amenities and the understaffing, I would not book this ship. If all Royal Caribbean ships have sunk to the level of this ship, their overall cruise line rating should be dropped dramatically.

Good Cruise by BradS15625999

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Ship itself was good. Our comparison was Freedom of the Seas which was a superior ship experience. Radiance of the Sea did not have a dedicated asian food section, ice rink, shopping mall inside or wave machine. Radiance did have a solarium pool that was enclosed and very crowded even on warm days.

Cruise extraordinaire...by far by RosemarieB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

This was my first time on the Radiance of the Seas...she is an awesome ship. My very first cruise was on RCC many, many years ago...and RCC out does any other line I have sailed in all aspects. The service was superb...the ship beautiful, clean, and easy to get around...the food was wonderful (thank goodness for the gym). The entertainment was great, the dancing music wonderful (I love the Mambo Trio..and danced till I dropped). I loved the ship, I loved the staff and their sincere smiles and desire to keep us happy.

Nightmare Cruise by RebaF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

We purchased the owners suite which was around $5,000.00. Day 1. Bathroom door was broken. One of the faucetts was broken. While I was bathing, dark brown water started coming out. Day 2. Bathroom door was fixed, faucett was fixed, water (brown slug) still came out of faucetts, was told that water was OK they just flushed the system and that it will clear up. HUSBAND WAS LOCKED OUT ON BALCONY BY ATTENDENT FOR THREE HOURS. Attendent was cleaning room, so my husband told him he would just sit out on the balcony until he was finished. The attendent locked the balcony door and left. My husband said he thought he would remember and come back but he didn't. After 3 hrs, my husband saw someone out on the ship within yelling distance and then security came and let him in. It was cold and we were in the middle of the pacific ocean. Day 3. The jacuzzi boke, I was taking a bath and more brown stuff came out of the faucett, I think it shorted out the pumps. Day 4 Jacuzzi still broken, brown sluge still coming out of faucett. Attendent said he could not do anything about it. People started getting sick and the cruise staff started serving people in the buffet and were not allowed to shake anyone hands Day 5 STILL getting brown sluge, every time I think it is cleared up and I try to take a bath, brown sluge is all over the jacuzzi, even staining the wash cloths. Day 6 STILL getting brown sluge, Cruise ship CHARGES for bottled water (nice, guess you are suppose to drink the brown slug) Day 7. Made it off the ship ALIVE.........As I said, we had an owners suite, room service never seemed to know what we could order and rarely brought everygthing that we ordered. This was for my mothers 90's birthday and even though we sched. a "special" celebration before the cruise, it never happened. I am beyond dissappointed and consulting legal advise.

Pretty good cruise by JimV2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

I would recommend this ship because it was very clean, people were nice, they had constant events going on, We werent impressed with the food...desserts were bland, variety wasnt what we thought it would be. Lots of people complained about the constant movement of the ship. We werent sure if it was the ship being so top heavy or what but you could feel the rolling constanly. As usual, the elevators were a pain.

Not What I Expected!! by IslandGrl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had so much fun on my 1st Cruise (Carnival) that I decided to take another.  Most people have so much negative things to say about Carnival that I decided to take  a Royal Caribbean Cruise.  I was very disappointed.  The food was not good at all. Coming back from the port.  All the food in the Windjammers was horrible.   There was never anything good to eat there.  The fries were always cold and hard.  People would be so hungry they were trying scrabble for any morsel they could find.  The staff was so rude.  It so bad that they would literally pull food trays as people were trying to get food.  The MDR was not much better.  My room was small and cramped.  You could hear every sound outside and next door.  I was glad to get back home.

Irritating alcohol and 'my time' dining by StevenA54453378

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

Our major complaint was the prohibition on bringing special wines on board to drink in the dining room (we would have been willing to pay a corkage fee) and on having personal bottles of alcohol in the rooms. (You not only couldn't bring them on board, you couldn't buy bottles in the duty-free store for consumption on the ship). Since one of us is in the wine industry, this was a major irritation, and would probably lead us to select a different cruise line in the future. Lots of passengers told us how to cheat on these policies, but that's not the approach we wanted to take.

Mexican Odyssey by BarbaraR11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

The Radiance of the Seas is a lovely big ship. The cabins are nice, although both our balcony and the seating area inside were cramped. (The balcony was our own fault as we picked the cabin that had an angled balcony.) We would have preferred two comfortable chairs and a table to the very small sofa. The bathrooms could be a problem for larger people. The bathroom odor in our section of the ship seemed to be a problem, the ship appears to be economizing on odor-eaters. I don't know if this was true throughout the ship but the odor in our hall was quite distinct and our neighbors also commented on the problem. The room was otherwise clean and well maintained. We felt the entertainment was the best we have experienced at sea.

Getting away from it all by GarrettB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

The ship seemed well kept for its age. There is so much going on that I have to give due to the crew for keeping it seemingly so organized from the moment you got on till the moment you had to go.

CREW WAS 'VERY' UPBEAT ALL THE TIME. WHEN YOU CONSIDER THEIR LONG HOURS AND MONTHS AT SEA, THAT IS REMARKABLE! THIS COMES FROM THE TOP!!! IT WAS THROUGHOUT THE SHIP!! THE SHIP WAS IMMACULATE AT ALL TIMES!

Great ports and woderful weather by JohnA30

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

We have been on several cruises and considered Royal Carribean the standard for our cruises. The level of the food service, menu and the obvious wear of the interior of the ship did not meet thier previous standards.

The prefect cruise! by BettyB11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

The Radiance of the Seas is a very beautiful ship, with exceptional service all around the ship. Lots of variety in activities, Attention to Detail. The Captain made very interesting and informative announcements every day. They really work hard to try to please you not only in your room but in dining and all over the ship. Very impressive! We had such a relaxing cruise and lots of fun!

Why didn't I start cruising years ago? by JaniceG3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Mexico

The ship is well maintained, the crew professional and friendly. Signs and directional markers in easy view. A publication was placed in our room by the attendant every day so we knew what was happining on board at all times. The food was well made, the fruit fresh, and the belly full. ;-)
