Review summary

Our major complaint was the prohibition on bringing special wines on board to drink in the dining room (we would have been willing to pay a corkage fee) and on having personal bottles of alcohol in the rooms. (You not only couldn't bring them on board, you couldn't buy bottles in the duty-free store for consumption on the ship). Since one of us is in the wine industry, this was a major irritation, and would probably lead us to select a different cruise line in the future. Lots of passengers told us how to cheat on these policies, but that's not the approach we wanted to take.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
the food was better than we expected, but when we tried to make same-day or previous-day reservations we were typically offered times around 6 0'clock and 8 o'clock, with nothing available at 7 or 7:30. It really wasn't my time dining as described in the precruise information.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
much of the entertainment didn't interest us. The tango show was good, as was the guitarist who played in the bars and lounges

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our room steward was exceptional. The head of "my time" dining was not very personable, which may not be surprising considering how often he had to disapoint diners who wanted a 7 or 7:30 reservation

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
There was a problem with water supply, apparently caused by a passenger flushing a washcloth down the toilet; otherwise the room (junior suite) was spacious and comfortable

Pros: the itinerary - - a very efficient way to see six resort areas in Mexico

Cons: the prohibition on bringing alcohol on board; the difficulty scheduling my time dining
