All in all a great experience, but not sure the Queens Grill is worth the significantly more more that we paid .
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Quick and efficient boarding, although we were in the Queens Grill and had priority boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Due to being in the Queens Grill there was no need to use other restaurants, other than room service for breakfast. General impression was that the Queens Grill restaurant was not as good as the QE Queens Grill experience, most of the meals could be classed as good to very good but not excellent, something I was expecting.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Really full activity schedule, we learnt to play Bridge, went to presentations from the quest speakers (could always catch up on TV if you missed them later). Went to Quiz’s to which were fun. Also available was dancing and fencing classes if that rocked your boat. There was also was a ship choir which our friend joined that we went to hear and it was excellent.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Ships singers and dancers were excellent in the main theatre, guest performers were just as good, especially the comedian/entertainer Mick Doyle who put on a brilliant final night performance.
Children's Programs
Did not take chikdren
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
In general most staff were pleasant and helpful, just had one waiter who did just about enough and seemed miserable most of the time.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It took a bit longer to get to understand the layout, didn’t like having to walk through the Britannia restaurant to get to the Queens Grill restaurant at the stern of the ship or walk the length of the deck above to get to the stairs leading to the restaurant. The Red Lion Pub was very popular and as such it was difficult to get a seat when entertainment or quiz’s were on. The champagne bar was mostly empty.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Superb suite, but you expect that in the Queens Grill
Ship tip
Don’t worry about sea sickness the QM2 is so stable, I didn’t feel the difference when the sea was either rough, moderate or calm.
Awful experience in the Mayflower terminal we were supposed to get off at 0805 to get our luggage to pick a taxi up at 0830 to take us to the train station. At 0805 we left the place where we were supposed to wait until called to leave. When we got down to deck 2 where we were to disembark there was a que building up of disgruntled passengers who were told that the bags were not ready for pick up and that we were to wait until they were ready so that it didn’t get congested in the bagged hall. What happened was that it was conjugated on a deck 2 in less space. We got off the ship at 0825 the first 10 people allowed to leave but it was touch and go whether we met the train on time.
