Great July 4th Cruise

Sail Date: July 01, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

This was our first trip on QM2. The Ship is beautiful as you would expect. The main dining room and other bars are well done and the passage ways are enormous through the the public areas of the ship. The entertainment was very good in the Royal Theatre and we sadly missed several shows. The Queen's Ballroom was excellent and provided dancing everynite. We did not visit the Illuminations shows or the special talks on the ship, but heard they were very good also. The dance band and vocalist was also very good. Service in the dining room was excellent and the food was very good to excellent. We ate in Todd English 1 nite and it too was very good with excellent service. We enjoyed dressing for dinner but understand that not everyone enjoys that aspect of this cruise liner. Although the ship was sold out, we never felt like there were many people on board since the ship and public rooms are so large. The ship caters to an older crowd as we saw few young couples or teenagers. Some toddlers were onboard but most passengers were middle aged or older.

Pros: The QM2 is a beautiful ship, the wait staff service was excellent, the Queens Ballroom was great,

Cons: Really no complaints

Recommends Queen Mary 2? Yes!

Service and Staff
We found the staff to be very responsive and eager to help. We never meet our stateroom attendant but the room was always ready for us, so we assumed he/she was supposed to be unintrusive??
Ship Quality
Ship was really beautiful, always clean and easy to get around.
Food and Dining
The food was also good to excellent in the main dining room or the King's court. The variety was also good and Todd English was excellent as well. Strangely we would have to wait unusually long for coffee after dinner, we couldn't figure out why?
Cabin / Stateroom
The stateroom was an A4 on deck 11. We had no issues except the lack of a DVD player seemed odd on this caliber of ship and this stateroom level. The A/C was a bit warm for me.
We went to the Royal Theatre once and it was excellent, probably the best sing/dance show we've seen our total of 10 cruises. We danced in the Queen"s Room each nite and had a wonderful time doing that. The dance floor was only crowded on the one formal nite we had.
Halifax, Nova Scotia
We visited with family in Nova Scotia so did not review the city.
