Elegance at sea

Sail Date: December 01, 2006

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We sailed in Dec '06 to celebrate 31 years of marriage. The QM2 was the perfect setting for our special event. Everything about this ship personifies class and elegance. Public areas are spacious and beautiful. The time spent going from one area to another was always enjoyable as you are amazed at the quality of the ships craftsmanship and design. Our stateroom was very well organized and maintained. There is something to ooh and ahh about on virtually every deck inside and out. Having been on such a special vessel will always be a cherished memory.

Pros: The ship is just wonderful

Cons: They seem reluctant to give out receipts

Recommends Queen Mary 2? Yes!

Service and Staff
This was a letdown...few waiters during the shows ( none in the balcony ). Dining room service was slow every meal and somewhat unorganized. Dinner is supposed to be a cruise highlight and we were somewhat disappointed.
Food and Dining
The food was very good but not outstanding. Overall I would say the food was on a par with Celebrity and Holland America. It seems a shame since this is such a integral part of the overall cruise experience. The Grand Marnier soufle was truly excellent.
Ship Quality
We sailed just before Christmas and every day more decorations appeared and they were big and grand...the ship got lovelier on a daily basis.
The shows were so very good. I am not an opera fan...but the opera singer was just amazing. The classical quartet was a special treat every time we saw them...they epitomized the QM2 experience....class, elegance, and quality.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our oceanview stateroom was laid out very efficiently and lovely. The room steward was quite competent and helpful.
