Review summary

This was a wonderful cruise. This ship is absolutely stunning and the Bars, Night Clubs, and public space are simply at a level of luxury that all other cruise ships that I have sailed on are a distant second. My only wish is that more younger people would take to cruising. I cannot understand how the 30-50 year olds are not all over this ship. Bar's everywhere, day care 24x7 and a designated driver. I also don't know why cruising is not more attractive to singles. It seems perfect to me. You would think the cruise ship would have an open seating table at dinner for singles as a meet and greet.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
took a bit of time (1 hour) but its to be expected.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The best dining I have ever had on any cruise ship was in the Britannia Main Dining Room

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
This ship has more public rooms and area's with stuff going on than any similar sized ship I have ever been on

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage show was above average. The dancers and Singers were very professional.

Children's Programs

I think there were a total of 10 kids on the whole cruise ship. That was disappointing

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
It was clear that a lot of the staff was in training, and made mistakes, but they were all trying their best and very conscientious.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
this is where the QE stands out. It is simply the most beautiful ship I have ever sailed on, with more public venues that I've seen on ships with twice its capacity. There are actually FOUR grand staircases in the main inside areas, all maintained views of the ocean, All seemed spacious and luxurious without being garish. No las vegas flashiness and glitter, and this is not a shopping mall on the seas. The QE2 is a worki of art in itself and you get to live it. You feel like your living in Downton Abbey- Upstairs.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is the absolute cheapest cabin with a window (obstructed view) that they have and it perfect. We got daylight, and it had plenty of closet space, a couch and a king sized bed. A lot bigger than some balcony cabins I have had on other ships.

Ship tip

Afternoon Tea in the Ball room - eat a light lunch so you are ready for this "second" lunch.

Ports of call

Vigo, Spain

4 out of 5
pretty city. A mix of very, very old, and Very old. They are doing work to modernize the streets as there was a lot of construction. We took in the old lookout fort that dated back to 100 BC. Really cool.

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
We went to the beach. Very nice beach.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
ridiculously easy. big tip if you are not in a hurry wait to disembark. It gets all cleared out.

@dadm: you didn't say anything wrong. I understand your concern. FWIW, the buffet is completely casual, and lunch is also served on deck for the swimsuit crowd. Its not "hoity toity" at all, but it is also not a toga party crowd.

Glad you had such a great time! Sailing on QE in November, can't wait. Have cruised on QV and love Cunard. It can be as formal or relaxed as you choose. Thanks for a great review with which I would agree wholeheartedly.

Love your attitude, very positive. Sounds like a cruise for us. Hopefully we'll cruise on a Cunard ship one day.

Sounds like the elegant, old school experience of the proud ocean liners. Kudos to Cunard

Don’t take this wrong, but it seems like it would be, uncomfortable as opposed to just walking around in a swimsuit and heading for lunch. It might not be this way, but, we have always shied away from it because we felt we would not feel relaxed. Glad that you were able to enjoy the whole experience.

Appreciate your detailed review. I think the “younger” crowd doesn’t have the luxury of time for the longer sailings. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
