Reading D Dawson's review below, I realize we were on the ship the same week. I can only say I agree with him completely. What a messed up 25th anniversary cruise. We were one of the lucky one... my wife got sick on the Tuesday night from the virus, and the day she was quarantined to our room, was the "Fun Day at Sea" because of the oil spill in Maui. The couple who was traveling with us, wasn't so lucky. They along with the rest of the group only had one day in Maui, and on the last day of the cruise; the husband became ill wth the Norwalk virus. They went to the ship's doctor and he was quarantined to his cabin. Because he didn't see the doctor until late Sunday afternoon, they weren't given a $200 credit like everyone else who was sick during the trip. Our friends wife asked for assistance, because she knew we would have to be off the ship by 10:00 am the next day. She was asking if the ship could help her find a hotel because her husband was too sick to fly. The crew member she was talking to basically said " You didn't book this cruise through NCL, so there's not much I can do"... We had gone through Expedia. The young lady gave her a list of hotel and hospital numbers in Honolulu. She then pleasantly added, by the way we've cancelled all of your excursions for Monday; and that Easy Fly program you joined... We're refunding your money and you and your sick husband will have to take your luggage off the ship yourselves in the morning. What a nightmare for them. They left the ship for 9:00 A.M and spent the day in the airport trying to get an earlier flight. When we returned to the airport later that evening from our excursions, we found the husband; but not the wife. He was asleep on his baggage, and she was in the restroom because she had come down with the virus as well. Once we boarded our plane we thought thank GOD.. Little did we realize we wouldn't be leaving right away. An elderly couple who was on the cruise with us had to be removed from the flight. He was so sick from the virus; they (United Airlines) was afraid he wouldn't make the flight. They took him and his wife off the plane and sent them straight to the hospital by ambulance. The service wasn't that great and the food was very disappointing. No matter where you went to eat... it was the same menu, or coarses day after day. We were told by one of the crew members that on that particular cruise there were between 500 -600 people who became ill.. Will we be taking another NCL cruise.... WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER.
What a messed up week !
