Worst cruise ever

Sail Date: September 11, 2006

Room Type: Balcony

It was the Pride of Hawaii which was a brand new ship and we thought that it would be a great ship to go on. The decorating in certain areas of the ship was absolutely hideous!!!! The help and service was terrible, and the freestyle dining was not what we all liked. We usually cruise 1 to 2 times a year on Royal and Celebrity and we will never go on NCL again!!! There was really nothing to do on this ship. The activities were limited and the bands and parties they had on board was not very good. They required reservations every night including the main dining rooms and if you didn't have them, they told people that none were available. When you went to the restaurants they had empty tables everywhere. Some of the help was rude as can be. We didn't even know who our room steward was. We asked to have the room made up at night (which on the other ships is just done for you) and several nights they didn't do it. The one thing that was good was the food in most of the restaurants. We would say that it was as good or better than the other cruise lines. They ran out of martini glasses in all of the bars and silverware in the main dining room. How disorganized can they be? They did do some a couple of good things like drive us past a lava flow at night and took us around the Napli Coast Line when leaving Kaui. Their tours off ship were for the most part very good with fantastic tour guides. On a whole we had a great time in Hawaii, but will never take an NCL cruise again. Everyone that you talked to at the end of the cruise was complaining. We went to have breakfast on the last day before we got off the ship and everyone in line was complaining about the week and one of the help started laughing and I asked her what she was laughing about and she said that she heard this every week!!!!!

Pros: The food was pretty good in the restaurants

Cons: Freestyle dining and service was not good

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
We took the trip by land and by sea. Kona is a very unspoiled Island and we found it very nice.
Nawiliwili, Kauai
I have stayed in Kaui before for a week and still found it to be may all time favorite. What a beautiful place. We rented a car and had a blast
Hilo, Hawaii
Hilo was a very beautiful place.

Kahului, Maui
We went on a catamaran trip to Lanai, I wouldn't recommend going to that island as it wasn't what I expected, but the whole trip was really fun and the help on that tour made the whole trip. They really could not do enought for you. Also took the beach day at Kannapali and it was awesome. Our husbands thougth that the snorkleing was great.
