Wonderful Intinerary, Horrible service

Sail Date: July 10, 2006

Room Type: Inside

We found service to be the biggest complaint of ours. We had to beg for clean towels in our stateroom, we had to clear our own table at the buffet, the ship had ten restaurants but only three of them were included in the "freestyle" dinning, you had to pay a cover charge for the 7 other restaurants. We found a dinner reservation very difficult to get and when we did manage to get one we had to wait 45 mins for our table. We ate one night in a premium restaurant and it was very good, worth the $15 cover charge per person, service was good there. We thought the shows were excellent. There was not much to do during the day but the ship was in port each day so it wasn't really a problem. The staff was very friendly and hard working but obviously overworked and the ship was severely understaffed. Our cabin steward told us she was caring for 20 rooms that is why she could not make our room up until 5pm. This was a problem for us as we had no clean towels for a shower for dinner. Overall, the itinerary was fabulous but if you are expecting a typical cruise with great service you will be disappointed!

Pros: The islands this ship visited were wonderful

Cons: There was no service on this ship, dinner reservations were difficult to get in the three "included" restaurants

Ship Quality
The ship was easy to navigate around, nice open public spaces. Needed to be kept cleaner.
Food and Dining
Reservations difficult to get, long wait for tables, poor service in restaurants, dirty tables in buffet area, not enough staff to clean off tables in buffet area
Service and Staff
Staff was very overworked, not enough staff to serve all the passengers, staff bitter about working so hard, staff was friendly but tired and irritated with their job
Cabin / Stateroom
Staterooms were big for a ship, nice amount of closet space, LOVED the shower - big enough to move around. Stateroom was clean upon arrival with in room safe which was very convenient.
Evening shows were great, daytime activities were limited but I think this was because the ship was in port each day.
Kahului, Maui
Whalers was a great place for shopping and surfing
Don't Miss: surfing
Hilo, Hawaii
Loved the National Park, rented a car and spent a lot of time at the park, saw the Macadamian Nut factory which was fun too.
Don't Miss: Volcano National Park
Nawiliwili, Kauai

Don't Miss: Jungle Zip line Adventure
