NCL Hawaii by SgtCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Rained most every day there, but most excursions were water related. Best cruise I’ve been on. Ship and service was well below average, but itinerary was great.

There's nothing really special about... by sdmullins

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America

There's nothing really special about the ship itself, but so what! You're there to visit the islands, not the ship. The islands do not disappoint! The ship is your floating hotel, and is clean and comfortable with good food and good evening entertainment. The crew was friendly and helpful, especially our cabin steward Kristaly. The only problem we had was that our balcony door would not open when we first got to our cabin, but a couple of guys from maintenance came quickly and installed new rollers on the door. 30 minutes later, we were good to go! If you want an exciting cruise ship experience, there are other ships that offer more on board activities. But I can't imagine a better way to visit the Hawaiian islands, especially on your first visit.

Room was too small but everything else was fine. I wished that there was more adult entertainment.

Great Hawaiian Island Cruise by melindareichal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

A wonderful way to get a taste of the Hawaiian Islands. I really like the ship and their activities and staff. Everyone was so cordial and friendly. Really wish they hadn’t confiscated my measly 6 pack of Diet Pepsi. Reminiscent of nickel and diming your target audience when they’ve already paid a substantial amount of $ towards this cruise.

Good Trip to Hawaii--but too short. by dslaughter1159

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Despite the late notice of the required dry-dock, Norwegian went out of their way to mitigate the experience--from pre-cruise hotel stays to financial refunds. Something beyond their control turned out alright for us.

Think twice. Bad cruise experience and terrible customer service by dgouldner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We booked a Hawaiian cruise with Norwegian for our 40th anniversary. Two weeks before the cruise they cut a day off the cruise making our 7 day cruise a 6 day cruise. The ‘gesture of gratitude’ was to reduce the cost by 1 day. So the gratitude for reducing my cruise by a day was to refund me 1 day. Really? To make matters worse, we get a letter in the cabin telling us that my first excursion of Road to Hanna in Maui is cut short due to a landslide. We decided to still do the excursion because the person at the excursion desk convinced us that we were not missing anything really because not much is past the town of Hana. We get on the tour bus and find out that there is no landslide. The tour was cut short at the request of NCL because they got to port later than expected. Also found out that we missed the seven sacred pools and the wine tasting. Yet we paid full price for the tour. Not cool. I also have to say that the ‘Pride of America’ is in serious need of some pride. My wife and I have cruise over 20 times in the past 40 years. Mostly on Carnival and Royal. First time on Norwegian and likely our last. Dining area windows were so dirty that my camera couldn’t focus on the dolphins we noticed swimming by. Lots of rust areas on the ship including on our balcony. We were watching a show in the theater while it was raining outside and water was dripping from the ceiling. Overall the ship is old and dated. Staff was nothing like any of the other cruises we have been on. They just didn’t seem happy. Few smiled or even said Hi. Never saw our steward until the last day. We made the best of it for our 40th anniversary but I wish I could go back in time and do something different.

Great way to visit Hawaii by lrcrawford62

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had some unsual rainy weather so some of the excursions weren't prime viewing. Despite that we made the best of it and enjoyed all of the islands. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Hawaii.

Hawaiian islands, sightseeing on our own by MADDOG07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise was very nice. This time was different from our other cruises on the same ship as my activities were limited because of a serious car accident in July 2014. However, we were able to do activities of our choice and enjoy seeing the beauty of each island.

Big Mess by 15years

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This was the worse cruise I have ever been on and I have been sailing for 15 years. I took a year getting everything just right for our 40th anniversary. One week before we sailed we got an email saying they had to cut it short by one day. Something about a dry dock emergency. Personally I think something was wrong with the ship. It rocked the entire time and I haven't experienced that before. The waves didn't seem that big. Both of our excursions at the first island were cancelled even though that island was only cut by a day. Our excursion after the cruise was cancelled too for what ever reason. I had to scramble to get us transportation to the airport from the hotel they put us up in. We were dumped off at 9:00AM in the morning and had to find our own luggage which was around 3:00PM. The lines to do anything was crazy. This entire cruise was a big mess and everyone on board was disgruntled including the staff. We saved and planned for this cruise for a year. I have never been so disappointed in a cruise before. It was very stressful and not relaxing at all which a vacation is supposed to be. I still haven't received credit for the missed night or the shore excursion at Pearl Harbor. I guess I have to chase that down too. Hopefully I can at least get reimbursed for the meals we had to pay for at the Hilton. We didn't expect to be paying for our meals which were expensive.

Best Vacation Ever, Fabulous Ports! by LoveHawaiiMore

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Overall Wonderful! Would do this cruise again in a heartbeat!! Loved every port. When you book this cruise, remember, the ship is not the attraction as is the case on other cruises. The ports are the attraction and the cruise is your mobile hotel. I only wish they had laundry facilities for guests. That would have made it so much nicer. I guess they figure your on land so much you can take it with you, but who wants to lug laundry off the ship?? Well Done Norwegian, and Thank You! Special Thanks to Caroline, our room steward, she is marvelous!!

Hawaiian Cruise by flaming8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

As you can see the one day we lost was huge and ruined what could have been the greatest vacation we have had. NCL could have done better in anticipating. Renting cars vs excursion can be a great cost savings if you don't mind driving.

POA was much improved from our 2012 cruise, except for the entertainment. In 2012 it was excellent, but this time is was almost non-existent, but that’s OK because this cruise wasn’t about the ship. We really didn’t miss it. Food was

Mediocre Hawaiian Cruise by DDMCB321

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Just being in Hawaii was great. Since they shorted us a day, they didn't handle that extra day off well at all. Food was very bland and no good entertainment/activities. Don't bother filling out the luggage tag they send you, because they don't use them. Also the paperwork tells you to bring a "white outfit" for a night. Don't bother, there's no such thing. Cruise director was not very good as was her staff. Just went on this cruise for the convenience of hitting several islands.

Our first cruise on this... by queennanan

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America

Our first cruise on this ship, our 40th overall. We found most of the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. We were new to freestyle dinning and enjoyed trying the many different restaurants and venues. You can make reservations in the main dinning rooms. The layout of the ship was easy to maneuver. The Hollywood Theater was large, the Mardi Gras not so much. Our 9th floor inside cabin was smaller than others we've had. We made due. Over all a great cruise.

Hawaiian trip by CaptainDickJane

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Nice cruise. 20% added to all bar bills. Crew and staff very friendly. All excursions stop for shopping. Excursion spots get crowded with tourists since everyone is going the same spots at the same time.
