It was an average cruise by Dlphncrazyj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We wanted to go back to Hawaii and this was really the only cruise that offered that without having to travel to Canada to board the ship. It was an average cruise but we prefer another cruise line for the time being.

We love this cruise. A... by emoss72

Ship: Pride of America

We love this cruise. A great way to see the islands. We rent a car on the nights we stay over. We have been on this cruise 5 times. The ship is smaller, but never feels crowded. We love to go see the whales

barely any life on this... by taylorbear

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America

barely any life on this ship after 10:00. barely any entertainment in general. most of the people on this cruise are 70 years old (+) not very good for anyone under 30. and if you’re under 21 don’t bother at all. hawaii is pretty but you will be very bored when you’re on the ship. and the food was quite the disappointment. i could eat anything and I couldn’t finish a plate on this cruise

Wonderful trip around the Hawaiian Islands! by vlundgren

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had a wonderful time in Hawaii. We couldn't ever decide if we should visit Hawaii on land or sea; so we did both! 5 days in Kona at the beautiful Hilton property and then this 7 day cruise. 😎We completed it with the helicopter ride!

It is a beautiful 🚢. We had an inside cabin on deck 9. Can’t remember the room number. The buffet breakfast was very good. The MDR had awesome food. You can make a reservation for dinner, if you want to eat at a certain time

Excellent Adventure! by cekelem

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America

The ship is large and fun to explore! The food is excellent and we never went hungry and I still lost 5 pounds. Make sure to hit a hot tub they are relaxing. The activities were totally worth it! The service was excellent!!! The cabin was well maintained. If u get a special at the spa take it!!! Worth all the time there, so refreshing! Drink lots of water, easy to dehydrate! Make sure to set an alarm for activities because u need to if u have an inside cabin, I could have slept all day!

Overall it was ok. The Brazzillian restaurant wasn’t nearly as good as another we ate at on a cruise ship. Cagneys was our favorite

Just returned from our journey... by chazphin

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America

Just returned from our journey on the Pride Of America . The ship is due for a dry dock, and there are a few areas that need a little kick, but overall the ship is in great shape. We were in a suite so had some special dinning perks, and let me say it was the best food we have had in a long time on a ship. The ports were also great, took the trip so we could explore as many islands as possible to decide if we were to return for a week we would be set to enjoy the area. It worked will be returning next year to enjoy our anniversary , to the garden island witch we thought was the most beautiful.

We Won a Free Trip to Hawaii & It Was Blissful by 80Crew

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

We won this trip from our gym and it was a dream come true. Kauai was our favorite island. Mauna Kai, whale watching in Kona, and the road to Hana were our favorite excursions. This is a great way to experience Hawaii for the first time.

It was the best cruise I ever experienced. I was totally blown away from it. by Sashadeaf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I was totally stunned at the whole experience of my trip. It was beyond my expectations. It has now given me a passion of wanting to do another cruise in another country. Will be recommending my family and friends to go on cruises. Nothing beat a great trip on a ship.

Beautiful Sites, Great Food, Awesome Entertainment by angienee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This was my first time sailing on a Norweigan cruise ship and the PoA didn't disappoint. We had a balcony room that offered nice views and cool breezes. Our room steward, Velma, was fantastic. I took advantage of the laundry service once and even though I was delivered the wrong laundry initially, I had my garments within an hour. Food was delicious and most of the waitstaff were great. We had one experience where we felt forgotten when we were in the Skyline dining room for breakfast...did a lot of waiting for water refills and to be waited on. The ports were phenomenal and had plenty to keep you busy. The pools weren't ever full when we visited (in the morning hours around 10-11am), nor were the hot tubs. Easily the best vacation I've ever been on. Hawaii is so beautiful that we didn't want to leave!

Disappointing service change at passengers' expense by TripJack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Except for 2 disappointing cancellations by NCL, the cruise on Pride of America mostly lived up to our expectations. NCL’s goodwill gesture of a $100 non-refundable per cabin credit in no way equated to the elimination of sailing Kauai’s Na Pali Coast. The week long Hawaiian cruise was marketed and sold to include sailing that Na Pali coast. NCL did not honor that contract for asserted reasons of a lifeboat maintenance matter. Maintenance evidently not critical enough to address until 9 days after passenger notification. Unfortunate for us passengers, the maintenance was scheduled at our expense without an acceptable reimbursement for change of service. In summary, NCL sold the cruise as advertised, then altered the cruise for a NCL matter and placated passengers with a $100 non-refundable credit. A credit that could only be used for unplanned extra onboard purchases; a credit that does not cost NCL a full $100. What a great deal for NCL; reduce service, save 3 ½ hours of fuel, and increase onboard purchases. Moreover, the mandatory 20% gratuities for the additional onboard purchases could not be applied against the credit. Irritating. The fine print likely states NCL has the authority to change any aspect of the cruise at their discretion. Must have been an inconvenience to NCL to schedule maintenance while the ship is docked in Honolulu for 12 hours. Bottom line - - Passengers were deprived of a portion of the Hawaiian cruise as NCL profited from the altered cruise. If you don’t consider the altered sailing route and high cost of adult beverages, we enjoyed our cruise on Pride of America. The cruise was well organized, though did not provide full value as sold. All cruise staff were friendly. We felt safe throughout the cruise. The food was very good as was the majority of the entertainment. Our cabin steward kept our cabin very tidy. All ship windows were disgustingly filthy. The second disappointment was the cancellation of a NCL excursion due to unexpected maintenance of the operator’s equipment. However, when contacting the vendor, they did not state to have an equipment issue. So, I assume NCL cancelled the excursion because they did not have enough passengers to make the excursion profitable. Lastly, NCL’s alcoholic beverage program / policy discourages us from considering future cruises. We are not heavy alcoholic beverage drinkers. Nor, can we come anywhere close to justifying the purchase of one of NCL’s alcoholic beverage packages. NCL needs to reduce the price of individual alcoholic beverages or ease the restriction for alcohol brought onboard by passengers. From our recent cruise experience, our group has no immediate intention of considering another cruise

I’m not sure what they... by nomadphil

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America

I’m not sure what they have to be proud about with this ship. I have never seen a crew with so little interest or understanding of customer service. Bar staff stand around talking to each other with no interest in taking drink orders. Restaurant staff who argue with customers about wine selections. A cabin toilet that would not flush for over 24 hours. When we asked to be moved from our balcony cabin after 26 hours without a toilet we were moved to an inside cabin, as punishment I assume, for daring to complain. For 7 days at breakfast I watched a staff member walking through the buffet with a coffee pot but never ever offered anyone a cup of coffee. On many other cruise lines a restaurant supervisor would regularly circulate through the dining areas checking on customer satisfaction. Did not ever see a supervisor on this ship. Not a single address by the Captain to the ship in 7 days. No useful information when in port on how to move from the harbour to the nearby towns. This is potentially a brilliant cruise with great destinations which is seriously let down by the crew and lack of leadership of the senior staff. This is the first and only time I will travel on NCL.

Hawaii is beautiful!!! by Betzsweetnsassy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Was disappointed in the ship. Toilet didn't flush for one full day. Windows were so dirty that you couldn't even take a picture out of them. Not what we expected or are used to with Norwegian Cruise Lines.

So much to do! by treeharp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Nice cruise. Keep in mind Hawaii is very expensive. If you take an excursion every port, you will spend just as much for them as you paid for the cruise. We did 2 excursions and the rest of the time we went to beaches. Very enjoyable.
