Review summary

This was the worse cruise I have ever been on and I have been sailing for 15 years. I took a year getting everything just right for our 40th anniversary. One week before we sailed we got an email saying they had to cut it short by one day. Something about a dry dock emergency. Personally I think something was wrong with the ship. It rocked the entire time and I haven't experienced that before. The waves didn't seem that big. Both of our excursions at the first island were cancelled even though that island was only cut by a day. Our excursion after the cruise was cancelled too for what ever reason. I had to scramble to get us transportation to the airport from the hotel they put us up in. We were dumped off at 9:00AM in the morning and had to find our own luggage which was around 3:00PM. The lines to do anything was crazy. This entire cruise was a big mess and everyone on board was disgruntled including the staff. We saved and planned for this cruise for a year. I have never been so disappointed in a cruise before. It was very stressful and not relaxing at all which a vacation is supposed to be. I still haven't received credit for the missed night or the shore excursion at Pearl Harbor. I guess I have to chase that down too. Hopefully I can at least get reimbursed for the meals we had to pay for at the Hilton. We didn't expect to be paying for our meals which were expensive.

The buffet wasn't even open when we got on the ship and all other restaurants were just average.

We got very poor service at this venue. We simply walked away because we couldn't get service.

There wasn't really anything we wanted to do on the ship. It just had the basic oversized chess board and shuffle board.

I think because of the shortened cruise the staff was not happy at all. They seemed to be on edge. The lady at the excursion desk was down right rude. When we got on board the line at the desk was so long we tried again in the morning. We didn't get to do any of the things we wanted to at the first island because all our excursions at this stop were cancelled. I planned for months getting everything just right for our cruise for our 40th anniversary.

Ship Quality

This was the oldest ship I have been on and it showed. The mirrors in the bathroom were loosing the reflection. The whole shipped seemed to be painted over rust repairs.

Our cabin was redone but it was already showing it's age. The whole shipped was just painted over rust repairs. We paid a lot of money for this cruise and it was the worst ship I have every been on.

Don't go on this ship unless you just have to cruise the islands.

We just went straight to the ship but had to spend our last night at the Hilton due to our cruise being shortened. The tower we were in was old and run down. I expected more from Hilton.

We just did the hoppa on hoppa off bus. It was good and some of the places we stopped were beautiful.

It was ok. It was too cold to get in the water and there wasn't any place for us to get something to eat. At least not where we were dropped off. The bus driver wasn't very experienced either.

We did the best of Kauai tour and if you don't mind being stuck on a bus for most of it then go. The stops were beautiful but we were on the bus most of the time.

Don’t lose faith in the cruise industry. I’ve been on 25 cruises. Only one out of the 25 was a bad experience, like you. (It was on the Norwegian Cruiseline-Pride of America as well).

Oh it sounds just terrible...I'm so sorry that it was such a bad experience for you...I would be disappointed too...we're going in May and we've been planning (and paying) since October..I hope something really good happens to you really soon so you can regain your joy.
