Not Horrible BUT...

Sail Date: August 01, 2013

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Large Group

Room Type: Oceanview

We had a group of 13 people and there were several things with this cruise line/ship that were a challenge. The front desk staff and guest services were arrogant and their overall attitude was \"Shut up...do what we say because we know what's best for you.\" Everything is a sales pitch.
3 of our party left the ship in Hilo\, rented a car to drive to Kona to do the nighttime snorkel with Manta Rays (a Big Island \"must-do\" and an excursion NOT offered by Norwegian.) We informed guest services the night prior of our plans of sleeping OFF ship one night - they harassed us saying \"it was against the rules and that we absolutely CANNOT do that.\" Well\, it is America\, we are citizens and we're not crossing any international borders so we did it anyways. We were treated as escaped criminals\, our onboard accounts were closed and my sister's onboard 'credit' given at booking was taken away etc. It was a mess.
Pools and hot tubs CLOSE at 10pm...are you kidding me?
The only 24 hour restaurant (included into original trip price) was closed 4 out of the 7 days due to \"maintenance\" it was difficult to eat between 9-10pm.

Pros: Service staff (food & housekeeping)

Cons: Guest Services/Front Desk

Recommends Pride of America? No.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
It took us 3 hours to eat at one of the restuarants onboard (included in price.) We couldn't reserve any tables large enough to hold 13 of us (seemed weird that they flat-out refused to put tables together for us especially when we were celebrating several birthdays.)
Cabin / Stateroom
Service and Staff
Average because Food Service and Housekeeping staff were all very nice but the Front Desk and Guest Services depts were downright arrogant and unaccommodating.
