I learned that you can not run a cruise ship with American employees. The employee turnover rate is extremely high, so there is no efficiency and food service was bad. Freestyle dining is a good concept but poor execution. Food was way below Royal Caribbean standards. Do not buy any excursions as we went online or at the port and bought the same excursion or better for half the cost. Recommend you rent cars at the ports as they all have a shuttle and cost for a mid-sized was anywhere from $55 to $80 per day. Bring your own coffee mug unless you like 6 oz. coffee. My son slept on a horrible pullout sofa. Forget the safe as ours never did work. Show talent below average except for the comedian and Toby Beau who were great.

Food and Dining

Dining Rooms were very nice and breakfast was great. After that it is all down hill. Dinner similar to most AUCE places. Specialty dining was good but cost extra. The deal is to make the food so bad, you go to the specialty restaurants.

No gaming on ship. Not even bingo. Toby Beau and Bud the Comedian were great. Cruise director Stylus was average and after that the ship literally had no talent to do anything.

Children's Programs

Forget it. New college graduate trying his best but had no experience. He was nice, but unqualified. Same goes for almost every activity such as the ping pong tourney, family feud game, dodge ball, etc... I say get the older kids to get the word out and do the recruiting because my teenage son wanted to enter those events but few showed up because it was poorly executed.

Service and Staff

Tips are included in most prices and are split evenly amongst all people so there is no incentive to get you a beer or drink quickly. Could take literally 15 minutes. For food and drink, recommend cash tip unless people are really that cheap and leave absolutely nothing. The harder you work, the more you earn. Cabin stewards are awesome and one should tip them extra. Most waiters or waitresses had little experience and you will wait forever to get a drink, dinner, or dessert. Paper receipts are a joke in 2013.

Ship Quality

Cruise ship is average and has no stabilizers so for men improve your aim or only pee in port. If you get sea sick, stay in a hotel. Lucky for us, seas were calm.

Cabin / Stateroom

Had balcony. If you go, save your money and go inside cabin as the ship is mostly at port and there is nothing to do or see on the semi-private balcony. You pretty much only cruise at night. Dirty windows on old looking ship. Though is was from the mid 1980s but they told me it was 2005. Totally shocked!

Pros: Ports and the Hawian experience

Cons: Dirty windows and poor food and bar service. write fast or your rating will time out.

Recommends Pride of America? No.
