This was a wonderful cruise.

Sail Date: May 01, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first cruise and we found it to be wonderful. Our ocean-view room was great. There was all kinds of food available for every type of cuisine and if you didn't like the "fancy" food you could always order a hamburger and fries. We enjoyed all of the entertainment. "Toby Beau" was the best!!! The cruise director had lots of things to participate in such as hula dance, lei making, dance contests and more. The luah that the cruise sponsored was great; the food was typical and the show was great.

Pros: The entertainment was great from singers and bands such as "Toby Beau" and comedians and magicians.

Cons: We were disappointed that we were unable to see the lava flow in the ocean due to the tsunami.

Recommends Pride of America? Yes!

Ship Quality
The ship was very clean with a beautiful atrium with large white balcony staircases. The staterooms were nice and clean.
Food and Dining
The food was very good. They has alot of "fancy foods" that we didn't care for but you could always find something good or order a hamburger and fries. Breakfast was the best. We did not go to the speciality restaurants due to the "extra" charge per person.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our room was very nice and clean. We had paid for an "obstructed ocean-view" but our room had a picture window with an excelelnt full view. The bathroom and shower were a little small but useable.
Service and Staff
We found all of the staff to be friendly and ready to help with anything. Our stateroom housekeeper knew us by name and always checked to see if we needed anything.
Entertainment was great. Our favorite was "Toby Beaus" shows. They put on shows four different times. There was also a magician, a comedian and singers. The cruise also had instruction classes to make leis and hula dance. We did the shore excursions through the cruise line and they were all good with great tour guide/drivers.
