This was our first time to visit Hawaii. The islands were beautiful and the people extremely freindly. Unfortunately our experience onboard the Pride of America was a major disappointment. The overall service was far below what we have experienced on other luding two previous NCL sailings. We were very disappointed in both the quality and selection of food choices, and therefore found ourselves eating at the buffet restuarant most of the time. We did however pay to eat at the other "upgrade resturants" a couple of times and we were equally unimpressed. What happened to the special themed midnite buffets? We were almost heartbroke to find out that there wasn't even the special dessert midnite buffet, with the beautiful ice carvings, and the elegant preparation and presentation. These are some of the things we look forward to when we cruise. The night life entertainment was very limited, and lacked that "lets dance" quality. There seemed to be alot of disgruntled crew members, who were not doing a good job of keeping their feelings from the passengers. We met several people who had like ourselves cruised before, and the general consensus was "the islands are great, but this cruise isn't worth the money. The excursions were extremely over priced when compared to picking up a phone and making the arrangements yourself. It may sound like I am hard to please, and just like to complain, but on the contrary we love NCL., it has a special place in our hearts as my wife and I got married in the U. S. Virgin Islands while on our first cruise aboard the NCL M.S. Southward. It hurts me to write these comments, but I am hoping that someone with NCL that is in a position to change things can make this cruise like the other NCL cruises we have experienced, and truely bring some pride to the Pride Of America.
Sail Date: November 01, 2006
Pros: The ports of call
Cons: The overall lack of quality that we have experienced on other NCL cruises.
