Review SummaryThe islands were the best part...oh, and the other two couples that we met. If it hadn't been for these other four people, the cruise would have been a bust!
We were going on this cruise for our 30th year of wedded bliss. We had done this cruise before on the Star (a wonderful cruise). The second night at dinner we were seated with two other couples who were also celebrating. The six of us just clicked and the rest of the cruise was spent together...thank God!
Getting on the ship was a breeze. That is until it was time to dress for dinner. One of our bags had not made it to our cabin, and nobody seemed to know what had happened to it or for that matter cared! It did show up just as we were about to leave our cabin later than we had planned.
The food was in a word, horrid! Very slow service and most of the servers acted like they could care less if we got the food or not. We did meet two great sevice people in Crossings, Ron and Leah. We tried to sit in that area from then on. Breakfast was so bad that we mostly ate the pastries. Every morning was the same thing on the menu. Sometimes they got it right but mostly they didn't. We booked a dinner at on of the extra-fee eateries and it was so bad that my husband had to send his back. A fancy steak with french-fries on top of it! That's French food...
The Shore Excursion person was very pushy and in a word RUDE! The other two couples were on their first cruise and nobody wanted to help them out with anything other than pushing them to go here and buy that. I talked them out of buying all of them, save one, the luau on Maui, which got rained out anyway. We took the shuttle to and from the aiports and rented vans and "did our own thing" while in most all the ports.
Being our 3rd cruise with NCL I can tell anyone who might want to go with this ship and crew...don't! The all American crew seemed to be more interested in eachother than good service to the passengers. I wonder if all the NCL ships that sail the waters in Hawaii are the same? If so they will continue to lose passengers unless something is done about these problems.
