We had three unfortunate experiences on our cruise that let us down. On the first night we were told that the specialty restaurants were only $5.00 for the cover charge. We were charged $20.00 each because we had the "Special." The "Special was $10 and the cover charge was $10. We became concerned when the family at the table next to us caused a little scene when they received their bill. It was either bad communication, or a scam. Still not sure. In the Outrigger bar, we ordered the non-alcoholic slushes which were on the menu and were treated very rudely by a female bartender. (Didn't get her name.) On the last day were were told that there would be a transfer to the airport at 6:30 p.m. A clerk at the reception desk stamped my transfer, wrote 6:30 p.m. and dated it, and initialed it. We hung around the pier for several hours and went to catch the transfer. We were told that it had left at 6:00 p.m. Luckily there was a great bus driver there who took us to the airport. All of the tour guides and bus drivers in Hawaii were great. My friend had a great idea. NCL should hire an all Hawaiian staff. I read in another review that the Pride of Aloha is like a "floating Super 8 Motel." That is just about right. It is a great way to see more of Hawaii without alot of expense.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Not sure if the specialty restaurants are a scam. Freestyle dining convenient if you make reservations. Not a lot of variety in the buffet. Lines long and slow in buffet. Food overall was pretty good. Staff friendliness less than average.

A few that were super friendly. Most kind of ornery. Some downright rude.

Average . . . better than expected.

Cabin / Stateroom

About the same as other ships. No cute animal towels. Not as much service. Room not made up at all on last full day.
