Just a floating Hotel

Sail Date: January 01, 2008

If you have cruised before you will not think highly of this ship. If you just treat it as a floating hotel you will do great.
Bottom line hate to say it but, the American staff just was not service oriented like other foreign staffed ships. Freestyle dining was not anything to brag about. It just slowed down the dining and presented you with a new waiter each night who was rushed and understaffed to attend to you. No nightly entertainment by the waiter staff or midnight buffets. Just not special like a cruise. If you want to put on your jeans and enjoy a night out at Dennys and pay the cost for a cruise for it then book by all means.

Pros: No need to unpack your suitcase at each island

Cons: Overall ship was dirty and smelled like sewer gas in areas. Food average not cruise quality

Recommends Pride of Aloha (RETIRED)? No.

Food and Dining
Food was very average. Equivalent to Shoney's and Ponderosa. Same food served everyday in the cafe. Cafe very unorganized and long, long lines that did not move. Two restuarants were no charge and three had an additional $15- 20. per person charge. They were under staffed in the dining rooms and would always have a 30 minute or more wait to get in. You were issued a buzzer like at local restaurants while you waited for tables. You would always see the dining rooms half occupied even when you were waiting to get in. They were not staffed or using all the tables. Food was not hot when you received it. One waiter told us they really expected most people to stay on the islands to eat when the ship was docked overnight at an island. Not the case on our ship.
Ship Quality
Ship smelled of sewer gas on levels 8 & 9 AFT. Overall it was not a clean ship. It was also very unorganized and the staff did not seem to know what to do. I now hear it is a training ship for new staff. That might explain it. Very limited deck chairs to sit in. Just around the pool deck 11 and Aft on deck 11. Most other ships have other decks with chairs to sit.Communications on ship were poor. Announcements could not be heard by most unless you were out of your stateroom and in the hallways. TV channels and daily paper were not very clear in instructions.

Cabin / Stateroom
Our room staff was very friendly but several people complained of not getting their rooms cleaned each day or no ice delivered. Beds had very poor mattress. More like a pad not a mattress. Not real clean and bath smelled soured from dirty shower curtain.
Service and Staff
No one was waiting at the door of the cruise ship when we arrived. This is really unusally. No assistance in finding room or greeting. No one asking to help you at anytime. Very short staffed and very unorganized. No going beyond in service here!
Shows were not up to other cruises. Several plays and shows charged extra fee. Island tours were way over priced. I suggest you rent a car on each island and drive yourself. We did all 10 days and cost was usually $32.00 a day unlimited mileage from Enterprise.
