Travelled from Singapore down via Bali, Lombok, Komodo, Timor, Darwin & finishing in Cairns Australia. First time cruising. 14 nights sailing. Best ever experience!! No shortage of good drinks , great food, great service etc. There was an outbreak of avian flu on board which was quickly seen to. ( one of our travel mates got it. He was quarantined , medicated accordingly as was the rest of his family ( precautionary), then fit to go after 3 days) hand sanitiser everywhere. Fantastic cruise!! Would 100% do it again. Off on an MSC one 2018. Hope it is as good as this lovely ship❤️ Staff.. fabulous ( except on customer service desk.. but only needed them twice thankfully)
We bagged a complete bargain on P&O Eden to Papua New Guinea from Cairns on 16th of September. We had herd so many bad reviews about P&O that we never wanted to do a cruise with them. Well in the time frame that we needed ie September, we didn't have much choice. We noticed a really good deal on Facebook for a suite, so we thought it was worth giving them a try. We didn't expect much, but thought that we'd go in with an open mind.
Well, Pacific Eden is a lovely little ship & she's just had a make over. The suite was huge & the bed was super comfy, the veranda was massive too.
We learn that we coyld get room service for breakfast & afternoon tea. It was fantastic, breaky on our balcony every single morning. Amazing!!
We were also treated to a bottle of sparkling in our arrival, a bowl of fruit & large bottles of water, every day.
We were invited to the captains cocktail party & met the captain. We recieved a picture with the captain sent to our room the next morning.
Also included was complimentary laundry service, so handy!!
We researched & learnt that we should book into the restaurants as soon as we board as you have to book & they fill up quickly. That was quick & easy.
There is 3 different restaurants included, Dragon Lady (amazing) Angelo's (really good) & The Waterfront (that was mostly good) They were beautifully decorated. We did Salt grill (which we paid $49 for)
But It wasn't impressive. It was extra for lobster ($22) which was disappointing, the food was great but took almost 3 hours all up & we found it extremly hot in there, we were quiet uncomfortable. Good for the experience, but wouldn't do it again.
We loved the shows & the parties (Gatsby & white party) they were a lot of fun.
The drinks package was great, we loved the mixology bar the most.
Was extremely quick to get a drink, the bar tenders really looked after us....
There were 450 kids, but they were really well behaved. No issue's at all (we didn't take our kids as the school holiday cruises fill up quick)
The staff were all mostly great, the amount of shops were really good.
We loved our cruise & highly recommend Pacific Eden.
Papua New guinea was great, a real authentic experience that we hoping for. We would definetly go with P&O again. Way cheaper from Cairns too😊
Loved our 5 day cruise to Exmouth. Smaller ships appeal to me never seems over crowded. Staff were wonderful, food good, especially Dragon Lady yum. Entertainment plentiful, Ben & Chelsea my favorites. Our 7 year old loved the kids club and family parties were great fun! Would cruise P&O again.
Loved having a suite and all the perks. Not big party goers so enjoyed the private sanctuary with gorgeous views from the balcony. Complimentary items such as coffee, bottled water, room service breakfast and afternoon teas were fabulous. As was priority embarking etc.
Daughter loved Edge activities and signed up for everything available...made good use of pre-purchased Gold VIP Edge pass.
Food offerings overall very ordinary....at restaurants and the Pantry. Think they can and should do better.
Just off last week after cruise to Exmouth, Kuri Bay and Broome. Would probably not go with P&O again - ship is rather old and tired.
Positives: smaller ship - doesn't seem crowded; Dragon Lady food divine and service staff excellent; the musical entertainment- bands, duos and solo performers were excellent - the ship performances were not our taste but they were well rehearsed and excellent; some of the staff were really friendly and went out their way to be helpful; loved the culinary demonstration and tour through the galley; disembarkation process was really quick and smooth.
Negatives: Italian restaurant was terrible - food sub-standard; we found the food in general over the whole shop to be overly salty and in fact some food items could not be eaten; food was often lukewarm - and even cold in restaurants and the pantry; the ship windows were dirty all over the ship which spoilt the cruise for us; air conditioning in some rooms not working properly making it unpleasant at times and often those areas were empty due to that; no food available late night and hot chocolates were not free; some staff had attitudes and were not very friendly; our room and bed were not serviced and turned down twice during the cruise.
We were a party of four and enjoyed the break away from the usual grind - cruising is a relaxing holiday for sure!
Had a great time and much better than we expected
Food in the Salt Grill was outstanding and the other food outlets were good also..just don't do the Italian Restaurant "Angelos" it was awful ..
Ship was well maintained, crew very friendly and our cabin steward, Peter, was excellent...
Good size ship and never had to line up for anything except the spring rolls in the Pantry..
Kimberly, Broome and Exmouth were wonderful but the cruise back to Fremantle was very bumpy..
Overall would definitely recommend and would do Pacific Eden Adani n for sure...
hi..just off the Eden..loved the shop..staff were amazing..decor was lovely..great choice of 4 included restaurants..great shows and guest performers..lots of places to sit and relax or read..nice bars..had a lot of trouble faulting this ship..will be going on her again..this was my 13th cruise
We sailed on the NYE cruise on 28th Dec 2016 and it was our second cruise on the Eden. We like that she's a bit smaller with about 1200 passengers. Places like Champagne Bay and Mystery Island are a lot less crowded. We were pleasantly surprised with the food in Dragon Lady this time - 100% improvement. The entertainment team headed by Bobbi were more approachable but we missed Alter Ego. I thought having the Bianco night for NYE was a mistake - Gatsby was a lot more glamorous the previous cruise. Also a mistake being in port on NY day when a lot of the locals were still drunk from the night before ... including the cab drivers. Also hard on the passengers who were bleary eyed from the night before - NY Day should be at sea like 2015 cruise. We ate more at the Waterfront this time ... the breakfasts were lovely. Also enjoyed the $3 burgers available near the Lido deck pool. We heard a lot of whinging from fellow passengers comparing the Eden to (insert ship name here) ... all ships are different. Enjoy the Eden as a smaller compact ship with less crowds. We love the Eden and look forward to another cruise on her.
Personally .... never again on P&O, the staff were not a happy bunch, the ship dirty behind the scenes. The food so so. Always having to pay a lot that free on other ships, like hot chocolate, ice cream, hot chips.
Cheaper is not always worthwhile check what's included and not.
