Returned from my 7 day Pacific Dawn cruise on July 22. Couldn't fault anything with staff and service. Even though this ship has been refurbished I think a freshen up of colour in the halls to cabins would be a nice touch.
Overall LOVED my time on board and looking forward to another in the future.
Just finishing 7 days on our first cruise. The experience could be better. In a balcony cabin on deck 10. Ever staff member made you welcome and work towards our enjoyment. The entertainment was first clad and the muso's could rock. And did every night. We chose not to pay for any of the lovely restaurants all which looked very reasonable price, but felt the selection from the deck 12 Pantry was excellent and it seemed never ending. We can only thank all the crew from the the hall staff, catering staff and entertaining staff, all were amazing
Mark and Joyce
Great fun ship
Lots to see and do on board
The night time entertainment shows were top quality
Staff and service good
Room was very comfortable and being a balcony it was good to have the views out across the ocean
Was a great time to spend with family finally got to see Mystery Island. Staff were exceptional unable to book into restaurant after the first night because the booking person got it wrong but all in all no complaints for an older ship it did it's job
My favourite ship, been on her 3 times and always enjoy. She is getting a little rough around the edges but the crew are what makes it wonderful. Have been before and after waterslide addition and do like the changes, grandkids had a ball in the waterpark. Great for families
Our family loves the Pacific Dawn. The staff are amazing and can't do enough to make sure you are having a great holiday. Lot's of variety in activites to choose from. Do yourself a favour and pay for the Chef's Table, well worth the money, but not suitable for kids.
wicked cruise although short lived...

wicked cruise although short lived ..
cant wait to go back .
i took my daughter for her 15th the Koi boys did a live show and asked the audience if anyone was having a birthday so i pointed at Shaye and Nuz came down took her hand and lead her on stage.
They all sang my girl to her then happy birthday ..
Was unable to record it so if any one has a copy i would be more than grateful..
The food on the boat was once again outstanding as well as the people that work on the boat such happy people considering they are at sea for so long..
I just want to thank the Dawn for getting me home safely and treating us like GOLD...
I’ve been on quite a few cruises and chose this one for the destination and price. P&O is a budget line.
Room: Interior cabin 5171 - tidy room with the necessary amenities but very tight moving around the bed with bunk beds raised. The bathroom was basic but functional with a good sized shower but there were no little luxuries like moisturiser, tissues etc. Heaps of hanging space and 3 in room safes - obviously designed for triple or quad berth. Very old bumpy mattress so I asked for a mattress topper - this was unavailable but a contour pillow was left in my room. The sheets were also very worn and were pilling. The white towels also needed replacing as they were greying. On the last sea day there was vacuuming outside my room at 7:40 am - not really acceptable.
Ship: Really great sail past Moreton Island. lovely modern decor throughout. Curtains on the pool deck and deck chairs on the promenade deck smelt (of vomit, urine, and dampness) and needed cleaning. Duty Free alcohol for purchase onboard was fairly expensive in comparison with pricing on other ships I’ve been on and probably on par with Dan Murphys. Unfortunately all shore tours in Port Douglas were cancelled due to rough seas but we were able to go ashore later in the day after the seas had settled a little.
Embarkation: smooth, there wasn’t a long wait and they had a guitarist playing to entertain those waiting - a nice touch.
Service: in the dining room it was mixed, sometimes ignored, sometimes slow. Great Australian Entertainment Director: Ben. Captain Ian Dockeray provided regular updates and each day would name and wish happy birthday to crew members (a lovely touch). My room stewards AJ and Michelle were lovely and always greeted me by name.
Food: in the Waterfront Restaurant the cauliflower soup was excellent, the beef tip was over cooked and tough and didn’t come with vegetables (you need to order separate sides). The dinner menu was significantly reduced in the Waterfront restaurant - 3 entree choices, 3 mains and 2 salads (the rest you have to pay for). A lot of gouging for money: hotdogs, pizza, hamburgers, ice creams etc you pay extra for. The Pantry closes at 9:30 so if you want to eat later you’re forced to pay. It’s also very crowded at night and hard to find a table (they close off the back of the pantry for their pay extra restaurant Shell and Bones. The salads and soups in the buffet are delicious and fresh but the desserts are of poor quality compared to other cruise lines. No ice buckets offered for wine purchased in the Waterfront Restaurant. Bread on the second night was stale. On cocktail nights dress wasn’t enforced, a lot of passengers were wearing jeans and t-shirts in the Waterfront Restaurant.
Entertainment: Soloists in the public areas were great. Production show Seven Deadly Sins, Velvet Rope and Slumber were excellent - great costumes, great sets and dancing- singing was also of a high standard but may have been due to a pre recorded sound track. The towel animal show on the last see day with the room stewards was a lot of fun. They played the Winter Olympics on the pool deck screen which was very enjoyable. Because I’ve done a few cruises, I was invited to the senior officers party, which included a complimentary photo with the Captain, canapés and drinks. I found days at sea a little boring entertainment wise. There was always trivia available but not much else. There only appeared to be a lot of up sell opportunities for the company to make extra cash eg get a flatter stomach, boost your metabolism, foot analysts, the casino and spa treatments. A matinee movie in the theatre would have been good.
Done 2 3day cruises with 14 day Singapore to Brisbane next month. While we in Aus get most of the old ships they do the job ok. Dawn gets upgraded in Singapore so looking forward to enjoying improvements. Entertainment needs to be increased. Food like burgers etc should be included. $3 at present. Free on princess carnival NCL. Some basic drinks can not be obtained at all bars. All in all you get what you pay for.
Great ship 🚢. Lots of things to do and never had a problem look forward to seeing the pantry upgrade as we normally ate at the restaurant Shows were excellent and food was always good. Spent plenty of time in the oasis relaxing 😎. Can't wait for the next cruise. Highly recommend this ship
We loved the Dawn. Kids had a great time in kids club. Food was fantastic in the dining room but the buffet is old school. It wouldn't stop me from traveling on her I just loved everything about the dawn.
Awful, was my second cruise and was terrible compared to Carnival, the sheets were grubby and rust everywhere. Everyone got sick, so you had to stay in the cabin. Now have been on three and by far this was the worst!
We got married on the Pacific Dawn in 2015. There was 28 of us in total. Best experience / holiday ever. With 3 kids, definately was exciting and relaxing. The restaurant booked a specific area for us all each evening and the ship is big enough the rest of the time we didn't have to see each other if we didnt want to. Did smell near the cabins a bit. Hopefully the new refurb has eliminated that!
I have been on the Pacific Dawn two times and enjoyed my trips with them my rooms were great clean and tidy the staff are always friendly and helpful the meals are always very good i would be happy to sail on her again
