If you enjoy cruising without ports of call, this repositioning cruise is for you.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The embarkation process went flawlessly; quick & easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room food was quite good, especially when we followed our waiter's recommendations. Chops Grill's food was exceptional; we ate there twice. Jamie's Italian menu was not the same as the menu on Odyssey OTS; the food was better on Odyssey. Food in the Windjammer Marketplace was good with the customary many choices.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There plenty of things to do on the ship, we just didn't do them.
Entertainment
Didn't attend.
Children's Programs
No children on the cruise.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our main dining room waiter (Wai) was outstanding in service and menu recommendations. Our room steward did not properly clean our room before we arrived on embarcation day. Once the cruise began, the room steward provided routine service. All other staff were friendly, curteous, and helpful.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We liked the layout of the ship except for the main dining room. The main dining rooms on Quantum-class ships are compartmentalize instead of opened like other class ships, but that design flaw is associated with the failed "dynamic dining" experiment Royal Caribbean tried with Quantum OTS.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Except for the incomplete cleaning of the cabin on embarcation day, the cabin was roomy, provided an unobstructed view from the starboard side of the ship, and had more than enough storage room.
Ship tip
There are a lot of activities and entertainment options available on Ovation; or, if you prefer, you can just find a chair on the Esplanade and 'people watch'.
Departing the ship and collecting our luggage was easy. But, once outside of the terminal, the mass of people crowded around waiting for Lyft and Uber rides was chaos.
I did the 18 nights Sydney to Honolulu earlier this year. That cruise had a lot of sea days in a row. I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise. Thank you for your review.
