Our cruise to Alaska aboard the Norwegian Wind was an exceptionally wonderful experience. The staff and crew were friendly and accommodating -- as we had heard they would be. They all work incredibly hard. While we understand this was not an American registered ship, and an international crew, there were Independence Day (July 4th) celebrations for American passengers and staff members. The nightly entertainment was quite enjoyable and varied. Although we chose our cruise for the "Free Style" dining and the casual dining rooms, I am not sure we would do so again. We missed the elegance of the large dining room and having a dedicated waitstaff. Our only complaint about staff and crew would be some waiters were a bit abrupt. We understand their days are long and they work hard. But, our dining experience was somewhat compromised by such behaviour. Our stateroom was comfortable and always clean. We appreciate the steward and his staff and their efforts to make us feel comfortable and welcome.

Food and Dining

With the exception of LeBistro restaurant, food quality was only "okay." We were not overly impressed with menu selections and overall quality. We were expecting much better in the "sit down" restaurants. Buffets were average, though selection was always good.

We attended several production shows by the "Jean Ann Ryan" company. We also played "progressive trivia" conducted by the cruise director's staff. Lots of fun. Kudos to the cruise director and his staff for their variety of activities and organization.

Service and Staff

Exceptional -- These folks work incredibly hard. We saw the same individuals morning, noon and night. Our steward and his assistant were terrific.

Cabin / Stateroom

Stateroom was always quite clean, supplied with good number of towels, etc. and ice. Bed make-up could be better -- bottom sheets always slid off during the night.

Pros: Ship staff, Ports of call, Entertainment

Cons: Amount of time in port, quality of food except in LeBistro restaurant
