Even though it is the smallest of the fleet there is still plenty to do and it provides an opportunity to get to know more of the guests since you run into them at numerous events onboard.

The Sun is a great party boat to take with friends who want to get drunk by the pool and dance. There are some excellent DJs and dancers onboard, and the band was always great. I wouldn’t take my kids or parents though, as there are very few activities and a lot require additional payment. This is also not the boat for anyone looking for VIP treatment or total relaxation. Also keep in mind that as a smaller boat, the nights get very choppy and you’re more susceptible to seasickness.

Get your chairs poolside early as they fill up fast

The Norwegian Sun is one of the smallest ships from any Cruise Line and as such it does not have all of the activities you would find on the larger ships there is no water slide there is no go kart track there is no mini golf there is no rock climbing wall this ship is for those seeking to be mildly active an extremely restful so make sure you understand that before you book a cruise on this ship because it's not fair if you do not do your research before you book and expect something out of the Norwegian Sun that it is not meant to be

Sun is a smaller ship so if you have rough seas (8.5’ waves) be prepared for a rough cruise

If you opt out of any of the drink packages bring your own drinks or a travel mug to fill yourself.. .

Double check the activities on board to make sure you are okay with limited activities.

Be prepared to pay for the excercise classes, sauna and steam room.

Relatively small ship so felt a lot of movement this particular trip.

Go with different cruise line

If you don't smoke and don't want to breathe a LOT of smoke just traveling through the ship, this isn't for you. Handicap folks may have issues too.. difficult to manage floor transictions and no one monitoring handicap seating in buffet areas so they were frequently occupied by children and others that did not seem to have mobility issues.

THERE ARE NO STABILIZERS ON THIS SHIP! That should be noted somewhere bc that is not something we have ever had to check on with prior cruises. The decks closed as the seas were so rough the entire trip and barf bags were hanging randomly everywhere! It was HORRIBLE!!! The ship rocked the entire trip even staff were sick. It is very tacky to see barf bags seriously every time you turned around. The public restrooms were not clean. They frequently smelled of urine and dirty.

Please, please please tell the Captain (I believe it was Captain Kim) that he needs to make announcements when the ship’s sailing becomes as rough as ours was, especially the last night. I didn’t sleep at all the last night because I was scared out of my wits. A comforting, honest announcement from the Bridge would have gone a long way for the passengers.

Cruising will always be what you make of it. If you look for the negative you will find it. Do not let minor things ruin your trip especially if they work out in the end.

Watch you statements they over charged me several time on drinks and merchandise. I went to customer service and they fixed it but didn't apologize or seem like it was a big deal.

Bring a water thermos to refill because they will confiscate bottled water when boarding. Plan on eating in the main dining rooms most nights as the buffets lacked variety.

pour over your paperwork well before boarding if your booking compay messes up the onboard staff has no interest to help fix

Eat breakfast in the great outdoors. It is open air on the aft of the ship.
