Review summary

Please see individual comments in various categories that follow.

I am sorry I took this cruise.  Other than the ports in Chile it was hard to see why we stopped.

Food service was repetitious.  Even in the main dining room there were surcharges for steak (at least $20 plus gratuity) and two other items.

It was not possible to determine what was being served without going to the different venues.

Drinks were very expensive.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The various menus (buffet and main dining room) were not available except for the menu for the main dining room, which could be seen by going there but not elsewhere or on the ship's TV network. There was no published or posted menu for the buffet meals. Nobody knew what they were serving, including the servers.

Onboard Activities

IIf you like bingo and gambling and expensive spa treatments you should have been there. If you hoped to learn something from informative lectures you would have completely struck out.

Children's Programs

I did not observe the children's programs.

Cabin / Stateroom

Except for the crew and engine noise the cabin was OK.

Ship tip

If an $8.20 beer and a $10 small glass of wine sounds good to you, this is the ship and cruise line for you.

Ports of call

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
San Diego is a good city. The worst part of San Diego is the cruise ship terminal. Unfortunately, there were no Norwegian Cruise Line representatives ashore in the passenger terminal that I saw. It was a monumental fiasco.

Huatulco, Mexico

Try not to go there on a Sunday.

Puerto Chiapas (Tapachula), Mexico

The area around the port seemed very unsafe to me. It is unclear why we stopped there.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Callao (Lima), Peru

The port area is very unsafe. I didn't hear the crew mention that. I was robbed 1/4 mile from the shuttle bus stop in broad daylight.

Arica, Chile
