This was our second Norwegian cruise. We mainly cruise with Princess and Holland America but did enjoy our first Norwegian cruise last year on the
star and thought we would try another. This was a very different experience, starting with embarkation. It took over 2 hours! There were 15 tables total for registration, 5 reserved for suites and elite members. 4 and occasionally 5 were used for people with "special needs." That left 5 or occasionally 6 left for the great majority of passengers. Totally out of sync with the demand.
The other major problem area was the service, especially in bars. Getting a drink was a very slow process and some of the bartenders and servers gave the impression they would rather be somewhere else. We had a drink package so we didn't have to pay for each drink, but if we had to, it would have curtailed our drinking. The drink prices were much higher than any cruise we have been on.
Our cabin was OK, but we had problems with water on our deck. They would wash the windows on the Sports Bar above us and the water would flow down on to our balcony. One morning I was sitting on our balcony when the water poured down from above and I was soaked, Then it took over 5 hours to get some to show up to clean the balcony.
Although the food in the main restaurant and buffet was average at best, the specialty restaurants were outstanding. We had 5 meals in three different restaurants and every one was very enjoyable with great service.
We also enjoyed the music available each evening. Our impression is that Norwegian has some of the best music and entertainment in cruising and is the main reason we decided to take a second cruise with them.
