A good value

Sail Date: August 01, 2013

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

THE NCL SUN has a decent young children's program but not enough to do for teenagers. Video arcade should be free with the cost of the cruise!

Food was good - not spectacular - Royal Caribbean food is better but they are a more expensive cruise line.

NCL only has three ports in Alaska - Princess and Royal Caribbean have 4 ports and go to College Fjord - that was a disappointment but again those cruises are much more expensive.

In summary\, NCL is a good value - they are less expensive than the high end cruise lines like RC\, they allow your family to eat whenever you want and with whoever you want\, and they have more class and better food and accommodations than the low end lines like Carnival.

Pros: freestyle dining

Cons: not enough for teens to do

Recommends Norwegian Sun? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Quality of food was OK (don't order steak!)nothing to rave about. Convenience of dining times was excellent - that's the best part! Specialty restaurants are pricey but food quality is much better.
Cabin / Stateroom
Balcony stateroom was lovely - plenty of storage space.
