Enjoyable Cruise

Sail Date: December 10, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This was only our second cruise, so we don't have a lot to compare it with, but we thought the Sun was a handsome ship with great public spaces, with plenty to do (or not do). We were lucky and had great weather, great activities in port, and romantic evenings of music and dancing.

Pros: Lots of variety in dining options, music and entertainment, things to do, etc.

Cons: Walking through the Casino (where smoking was allowed).

Recommends Norwegian Sun? Yes!

Food and Dining
We did not go to the extra-charge specialty restaurants, so cannot comment on them. Large variety to select from at buffet and main restaurants; food ranged from average to very good. We liked the "freestyle" dining, and we were always seated right away. We enjoyed breakfast on the outdoor deck (11 aft) - less crowded than main buffet area. Discovered that the Sports Bar served wings and other snacks after 5:30. We are fans of tapas so we were expecting great things when we saw there was a Tapas Bar, but having only 4 selections on the menu was disappointing.
Ship Quality
We aren't crazy about huge crowds, so we were happy with the fact that the Sun is a smaller ship (around 1900+ passengers). However, the two pools were smaller than we expected. The ship was spotless and in great condition.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our room (outside/window/forward) was comfortable and spotless. Bed and bedding was comfy. Plenty of storage space for the two of us. Shower was awesome - especially after a day of snorkeling!
Service and Staff
Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful and personable.
Music for every taste at a variety of venues. We especially enjoyed the group (Flyer) who played most evenings at the Dazzles nightclub.
