Anyone who cruised this ship knows what I mean

We have cruised many times before since we moved to Orlando, Florida. While on the Disney Dream we saw the Norwegian Sun in port upon our return. Went online, the deal was good and the idea of freestyle dining sounded good. The ship was very clean and in tip top shape. The 9th floor balcony stateroom was average in size but had more cupboard space then we had ever seen before. Entertainment was first class each night. What we did not expect was mediocre dining in the main sit down dining rooms. You can pay extra to dine in a premium location but it seemed at a cost of having Denny's style dining when it was free. In the 11th floor Garden Cafe the food was often cold and near impossible to eat. So bad we sent some breakfast meals back to the kitchen.
Alcoholic drinks had to be the most expensive of all cruise ships.
Activities were their real downfall. Pool parties lasted 30 minutes and lounge activities were often mismanaged. For example they had to have at least 3 trivia contests each day in the Windjammer lounge .Frequently the next person asked the same questions as before. Karaoke is always popular but not so great when they hold it the same time as a meal or main theatre show. The calypso guys were always around but on more then one occasion sang songs about rebellion and hatred of white society. Their private island is in the middle of a major $25 million renovation but is almost a work site. Even while we were there bulldozers were moving earth and tractors hauling lumber within feet of guest on sun loungers.

We tried this cruise as Ocho Rios, Jamaica was on the itinerary. That port was dreadful good mile walk to the center of town but not before you are virtually bombarded by street vendors desperate to sell you something. Turns out the day we were there we were the first ship in 7 days and being October the street people were desperate to make a few dollars. We hired a taxi just to avoid being pushed and shoved on the way back to the ship.

Back on ship a neighboring cabin flooded 4 of 7 days and the guest services staff almost choked the elderly couple by pouring more and more carpet deodorizer to cover the mildew smell. Meanwhile the Purser kept saying they didnt have anything else available.

In conclusion the ship is OK for first time cruisers who know nothing better. Well never try Norwegian again. Back to Carnival or Disney for us. At least there you are made to feel special if things go wrong. If nothing else we got to sleep a lot as there literally was hardly anything to do.
