Modern facilities with multiple activities. Friendly service staff but unenthusiastic management. Often difficult to find various facilities due to a lack of walkways (forced to go over/under dining rooms, etc).
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food wasn't what I expected. It was OK but I would not have returned to these restaurants if I wasn't part of the "captive" audience.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We didn't see many shows but those we did were simply OK. The audience was entertained but not cheering loudly. Most were crowd participation to some extent so large groups may appreciate them more.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff that actually took care of us (housekeeping/wait staff) was excellent. The upper level staff (reception/tours/etc) were not especially helpful. They provided assistance when asked but weren't "friendly" and provided only what was asked of them...when you could get their attention.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
small but adequate on deck 5. Deck 4 regularly had a sewage smell (hallway) while transiting different areas.
We really enjoyed the Mayan ruins tour as well as the small shops at the site. We saw capitalism at its finest when we were charged $3 for a cold Coke at the base of the ruins. Fortunately, we were also able to buy several hand crafted souvenirs for much more affordable prices.
The roads leading to the site are very rough, especially the highway leading out to the site of the ruins. Be prepared for the free "massage and roller coaster ride" if you make the trip. :)
Lots of shopping with a large variety of shops. The water is utterly amazing. We didn't see much in the way of sightseeing (other than the ocean) but have not researched it's availability.
We took the city tour which was depressing. While we do have an interest in the poverty we saw, our vacation cruise was not the venue for it. The tour ended at a local resort which demonstrated a large disparity in wealth disbursement but we couldn't help but feel uncomfortable knowing about the hardship that was only a mile away.
Our stop here was cut extremely short. We didn't have time for anything but a few souvenirs, pictures, and a drink. Seems to be a very enjoyable spot and we look forward to returning in the future.
