How can you ruin an Alaskan cruise

Sail Date: July 01, 2008

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Oceanview

Q: How can you ruin a cruise to Alaska? A: With this ship.
The workers seemed like they were just doing a boring job, not bending over backwards to make us feel welcome and comfortable like on other lines we've been on. I hate the freestyle dining thing. It's nice that you can eat whenever you want, but the food in the "free" dining room was not good. Part of the fun of a cruise is the great all you can eat food and I wasn't going to pay another $100 per meal to hope something tasted better in one of the "fancy" eateries.
The entertainment at night was mostly pretty good. But there wasn't a lot of interesting things to do. I'm glad we went with friends so we could find our own entertainment but even that was hard sometimes.
The bartenders were rude when our children used their soda passes, threatening them as they gave them their soda that they couldn't share the soda with anyone (once they finally gave the kids their attention).

Pros: big staterooms

Cons: mediocre food, indifferent workers

Recommends Norwegian Sun? No.
