Review summary

This was our first cruise and we had a great experience. The entertainment was wonderful and at the right time of the day. Employees on the Sun were polite and very well mannered.

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

You must see the Altun Ha ruins. Our tour guide was excellent and we finished our excursion going down the Old Belize River. We saw wild monkeys, alligators, bats and iguanas.

Cozumel, Mexico

We rented a scooter and rode around the island all day. On the other side of the island are white sandy beaches with very few tourists. Cozumel is nothing more than a tourist area. The shopping was great.

The Mayan ruins were amazing and well worth it. You don't really get a feel of the Mexican culture. You can totally tell the cruising industry built this port.

Don't Miss: Chachoben Mayan Ruins

Mayan Ruins. We rented bikes for an hour and rode around town. We loved it and had a great time. It gave us a great look at how so many people live in Latin America. If you don't have a shore excursion planned, there is not much to do. We didn't see any beaches worth going to.

Pros: Each Port

Cons: Cost of drinks, cover charges for restaurants and the fact they automatically charged us $20 a day for our room gratuity really bugged me. They diguised it as a "service charge".

Recommends Norwegian Sun? Yes!
