Great Family Vacation

Sail Date: January 19, 2008

Reviewed: 9 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our second cruise and first bringing our 3 boys, ages 13, 10 & 8. We all had a great time. The ports of call were the reason we chose this ship.

Pros: Ports of Call

Cons: Food options when we weren't dining in one of the main dining rooms

Recommends Norwegian Sun? Yes!

Ship Quality
This ship was clean and up to date. The maintenance of the ship was excellent.
Food and Dining
The food in the main dinning rooms was very good. Pacific Heights was a nice change for dinner, food was not quite as good as main dinning room. We did not dine in any premium restuarants.

The buffet was okay. The overall service in the main dinning rooms was excellent, except for some minor snafus. Service in Pacific Heights could have been better for both pizza service and dinner.
The overall
Cabin / Stateroom
We had two adults/two kids with us and our other son was with my parents. Small room, but we survived! (its what we expected). Room was clean, well maintained and adequate for us.
Service and Staff
Never passed a staff member that didn't smile and say hello. The one exception was the russian waitress in the main dinning room. She had a bit of a 'tude going the both times we had her. The others were great tho.
Took the kids to three shows.
Children's Programs
My younger boys wanted to go and hang out at kids club every evening. This surprised us, but they must have had a good time.
Cozumel, Mexico
Our kids had the best time here and was their favorite port of call. This stop was added instead of costa maya -- bonus for us! Rented a car, toured the island and beaches. Snorkeled on reef.
Don't Miss: East side of the island is undeveloped but pretty spectacular.
Belize City, Belize
Belize was a big reason we chose this itinerary. We did not get a chance to snorkel here, but we did go to Altun Ha, which for us was a don't miss. The road to Altun Ha is decrepit.
Don't Miss: Mayan Ruins Altun Ha
Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
The raw and undeveloped nature of this island was a draw for us. We would def. go back to Roatan. The people couldn't have been nicer and the village at half moon bay was very cool. We toured most of the island.
Don't Miss: dinning on the water at half moon bay at west end.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
A last minute change because of the weather sent us to Nassau. This was a great change in plans.
Don't Miss: Senor Frogs.
