Review summary
the Star is a very comfortable and interesting ship. Easy to get around in once you figure out the dead ends and dining room situations. The itinerary was good although we had to switch the Belize port which was disappointing. And we missed Costa Maya due to heavy surf.
there is not much entertainment compared to the Epic or Breakaway. The staff was extra special friendly and accommodating. The food was good to very good.
the spa was fair compared to newer and bigger ships, but it did the trick for what I needed. It was also a tad more expensive than previous cruises for comparable accommodations.
all in all I had a very positive experience.

Ship tip
I didn't find the best bar until the end of the cruise as it was hard to find. It was the Sugarcane bar, tucked away next to Cagney's in the upper decks. Great mojitos and quiet ambience.
